Hi Vibetribe,
Me and my girlfriend have purchased 2 camping passes. We need to be able to leave once a day (in the morning) for family medical reasons and need to be able to get back to our site with the car ( not only because we paid a lot of $ to have our car there for convenience, my girlfriend has medical problems and needs the car for a.c./ power/ etc.) We have had trouble with this in the past ( we have either been told we wont be able to or couldn't get a gaurentee or were told IF we were able to we would have to pay more which is kinda ridiculous because we already paid SO much and are very low on funds.) I dont see why we cant get camped maybe close to an exit/fence and have someone hold our spot when we leave to make sure noone takes it (which i dont see happening). I just wanna have a good vibes with my girl PLEASE HELP!!! It would be so awesome if i could get a "higher-up" to ok this (maybe give us a letter/name or something) so that when we get there and the lower guys on the totem pole try to just brush us off we can have something! IF WE HAVE TO PAY SOME MORE FOR THIS I GUESS WE CAN BUT DONT REALLY FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO. I just wanna know my girls gonna be ok. PLEASE HELP ME HAVE A GOOD WORRY FREE VIBES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is extremely difficult to honor this request. here is our re-entry policy:

Re-entry by car is generally prohibited.
If you leave the venue, by car or on foot, please leave your wristband on. You will not be allowed back in with a wristband that has been removed, cut, etc.
There will be no way to leave the venue by car during the main ingress on Thursday/Thursday night.

one solution is to come in, set up, leave the next morning and park your car in the day parking lots and take the shuttle back in. it is $10 per day to park there.

if you do drive back in, you need to be searched again and will probably not be able to drive your car back to your original campsite until after vibes is over.

Dont think its a matter of money but a saftey issue getting out of the camp site. Its been done and im sure you can pull it off but if you want a hassle free guarantee my plan would be to park another car in a lot within walking distance. If thats not possible than I would be sure to make good friends with your neighbors, put something in place of your car when you leave -- stay calm, youll figure it out.

yeah usually we wud bring to cars and leave one outside but idont think this is going to be possible this year. I understand the safety thing, but this is kind of a safety thing for my girl ya know?? i dont mind being searched as many times as necassary, if i can wait when i get there and they can park me near an exit wont this solve the problem. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A BIG FESTY AND IT GETS CRAZY but i dont feel like this wud be that hard to figure out. i just feel like whenever i try i get shutdown out of maybe laziness on the part of the workers who wud rather just not deal with it! i just feel like for almost 400$ i cud get some help!!! MUCH LOVE THANX FOR TRYING TO HELP ANYBODY ELSE THAT CAN HELP WUD ME MUCH OBLIGED!!!

weve even had instances where they let us back in with the car but would try and make us go some other spot all the way across the park (saying there were no spots anywhere else or whatever) EVEN THO WE EXPLAINED THAT WE ALREADY HAD OUR SPOT AND PEOPLE WERE HOLDING OUR SPACE!! THIS JUST ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE A MUCH BIGGER DEAL THAN IT NEEDS TO BE!! IN THE INSTANCES THAT WE FOUND A COOL WORKER THAT WOULD LET US BACK IN WE WERE ALWAYS ABLE TO GO RIGHT BACK TO OUR SPACE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS ITS JUST BASICALLY A MATTER OF GETTIN SECURITY TO LET US BACK IN (I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PROBLEM IS) CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN!!

HEY AGAIN! I just remember my buddy actually parked in this little grass parking lot almost directly outside the arches and he was able to camp there and come and go as he pleases! Does anyone know if this parking lot well be opened this year! The only problem is when your coming into the vibes they always try to direct all the way around to the check in area at the end of the park if i ask will i be able to get over to that area or will i be forced to go around!?!?!? i mean my buddy apparently did it but im just wondering if i shud be prepared for sum flac!!!

The re-entry policy as outlines by sums in her post applies to everyone and we cannot make exceptions. You may want to consider this alternative per sums' earlier post:

one solution is to come in, set up, leave the next morning and park your car in the day parking lots and take the shuttle back in. it is $10 per day to park there.

At least this way, you would be able to get back & forth each day. I hope this doesn't cause you too much difficulty.

Sorry that you're in this position. Safety is the primary concern, however. They just can't accommodate people coming and going as they please and unescorted vehicles driving back into camping areas with that many people. And that pulls security away from other duties to escort people back in.

As for the camping outside the gate by the arches, I'm sure that that was not authorized. Though there may be some local neighbors that offer camping in their yard (again, not authorized).

My best advice would be to come in and get set up. Make friends with your neighbors and explain your situation. Maybe someone would let her use their car for A/C, etc. if needed. Then you could leave your vehicle in day parking.

Hope it works out and you both have a great time

Just my 2 cents but , If everyone were allowed to come and go like this, medical/comfort/necessity reasons or not, I'm pretty sure it would be a clusterfuck of cars going around making beer runs or having breakfast at Denny's, or driving to the south showers instead of walking and such.

Call me paranoid but, while the OP may be a responsible driver, I would not be able to relax in a tent with cars driving around it, it offers no protection whatsoever. There was only one time where my tent was not behind a car or something solid and I did have this concern when someone nearby was sleeping in their running car that was facing my tent.

My own take on this: We all don't know and don't need to know the why's and what not's about this need, but....
If we are dealing with a disability, there should be reasonable accomodations made. Section 504 of the rehabilitation act, etcetera probably requires it. As well as a doctoir's note to confirm the need, with specific accomodations listed.

Besides that - I know that you can't run a huge festival on humanistic hippie values alone and without rules, and you can't just make exceptions for everything and everyone, but f*ck - every now and then a standard procedure needs to be altered for the right reason. If you think about it, Geez they have bigger fish to fry healthwise and are still part of the community and paying for tickets like everyone else, they just need a little extra help. I bet you just about anything that someone at the organization or one of the volunteers would have no problem, if given VIBES guidelines , in making sure that these folks have a smooth in and out.

Right? If you are afraid that people would try to climb on this bandwagon (most are happy not to need this help) don't be. There is always an A-hole somewhere, but most of us aren't. Forget the legal rights to accomodations - just do the right thing and beware of and stop the depersonalized faceless bureacracy that inevitably attaches itself to organizations no matter how kind their roots and intentions may be.

Just a thought, if your girl is that sick, do you think that going and sitting in an open, sunny field for 4 days is a good idea to begin with? If it is that important for you to be there, why not get a hotel room to fall back to, with ac and all included?

THIS IS NOT WHAT VIBES IS ABOUT! ILL FIGURE IT OUT ON MY OWN! EVERYONE HAVE A FUN SAFE VIBES WISH ME LUCK!! What might seem like a small accommodation to you isn't to the planners of this wonderful event when thousands of other people are involved, all of whom paid for their tickets as well. They have a responsibility to the whole crowd, and not just to you.

I hope you find a way to work things out for you, your family member and your gal.

If you were camped next to or in Tabbooma's area he would get you in and out, that is if he had the power or a golf cart and access badge hint, hint, hint... Hope it works out for you and Tabbooma hope's you do see the big picture of how dangerous it is if everyone was driving in and out. Fests and driving dont mix. Good luck to you and hope you stop by the boardie picnic :v:

I dont see how this isnt a viable option.
I understand it is more money but hey thats what life is all about............want conveinence you have to pay.

It is only $10 a day for 3 days so $30 bucks seems like a pretty good deal to be able to get at your car 24/7 and go in and out of the festival.
I wish this had been offered for the last 13 years i have been going i am sure i would have taken advantage of this several times over the years.

As far as this...........I JUST FEEL LIKE AT THE PRICE OF TICKETS THIS SMALL ACCOMODATION COULD BE MADE BUT WHATEVER!
Of course this cannot be allowed......this is a 24 hour party for 4 days and you expect that they may allow people in and out of a festival?

Seriously?
This would put everyone at risk for injury with cars driving in and around all the camp grounds among swervy people walking, on bikes and maybe trying to drive their cars? Not a good idea.

So as far as i can see the powers have accomidated you for a small fee........................your welcome.:rose:

^ This.

...also, everyone pays for a ticket. Therefore, any argument that you make that refers to how much money you paid is moot. You should follow the VibeGuides' suggestions if you would like to make this as realistic and easy as possible. Otherwise, you'll probably just be pissed all weekend.

...also, it is rude to type in all caps. It's considered shouting. Shouting is rarely a good way to win sympathy around here.

Exactly what I'm afraid of. Three times I gave people a jump at fests, with my cables, every time there was a discussion about who could safely jockey both cars around, with friends watching out.

This is my first vibes but in my festival experience, accessible camping is usually very close to the concert grounds, which is ideal for minimizing exertion for people sensitive to heat or injured. Or in my case to preserve battery power. It's usually also close to medical personnel in case of emergencies. As far as leaving to help a disabled family member, I don't see being in accessible camping helping with that. But I find taking a respectful rather than demanding/accusatory approach really helps with getting special accomodations. It also helps to plan ahead and ask early, like months before an event, like I do. And to the OP in case he doubts my credentials, I've been in a wheelchair for 16 years. Not trying to sound smug, just pointing out you truly catch more flies with honey, and my experience in customer service reinforces that. :)

All Good crash kills woman

July 18--MASONTOWN -- A South Carolina woman was killed and two others were injured in a crash Sunday morning at a campground at the All Good Music Festival. The Preston County Sheriff 's Department was called to the campground just before 9 a.m. Sunday after the driver of a GMC pickup apparently lost control of the vehicle. The truck struck two other vehicles and three women, all from Mount Pleasant, S.C.

Nicole Paris Miller, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Sheriff Dallas Wolfe.

Elizabeth Rose Doran, 20, and Yen H. Tom, 21, were flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital by medical helicopters. A Ruby spokeswoman said Doran was in good condition Sunday evening; Tom was in fair condition. Wolfe did not know if the three women had traveled to the festival together.

A West Virginia State Police accident-reconstruction team was at the scene Sunday morning. Wolfe said he is awaiting their report.

Cpl. R.F. Dotson, of the Sheriff's Department, said the pickup "went through the campsite in the vicinity of a tent." Neither Dotson nor Wolfe could say if the girls were inside the tent when struck. "We're still investigating," Wolfe said. No cause of death was released Sunday.

It might cost a few bucks more, but you will have the access that you need. Without endangering any of your fellow vibers.

I would still look into the handicamper spots. That might be a viable solution for you.

With all that said, I feel strongly that cars moving through the campgrounds is wrong, wrong, wrong.

Gemini

A solution to your problem (park in day parking) was offered at a reasonable cost, $20. Assuming you only need to go off premise Friday and Saturday. $30 if you intend on going out Sunday morning and coming back.

Are the medical needs of your family not worth $20 to you? That's like 2.5 beers on the concert field. :funny1:

What is completely unreasonable is your request for special accommodations at a fest that draws 20K people. What if every one of those 20K made a similar request?

Buck up, park in day parking, pay the $20 and STFU

People arrive throughout the weekend and are directed to the next batch of open camping spots. They are not driven through camps that are already set up. People do not keep driving in & out all weekend. There's a huge difference.

Trust me, I don't think this is fun for anyone. People actually do have similar issues. The wise person will weigh his responsibilities and try to determine what is realistic. What is unrealistic is coming into a place where you clearly don't spend a lot of time and demanding that people bend over backward for you. That approach almost never works.

all i say is i wish things were as easy for me as they are for all you!!!!!
