one of my cleints dropped off some homeland treats for us today - from Hokido.

smoked scallops

smoked/dried octopus

and something like Tuna jerky - dried but not smoked.

"good to eat with beer"

so far the octopus and salmon have been a real big hit, i'll save the scallop for when i have some beer in front of me as well.

when we retrun from vacation we usually bring in some food from there as well

today we had an assormnet of cookies and cakes from Jamacia, some chocolates amd some banana custard filled sponge cakes form Tokyo.

I brought fried pork rinds and flash fried okra from the Market in Charleston.

Many of them had never had the pork rinds, which i found interesting since they all have had the fried chicken skins that are a popular bar snack back home.

I took this at my favorite Korean/Okinawan/Japanese drinking place in Portland. The red stuff in the black bowl is Korean fermented squid jerky. One of the best things I've had in an Asian establishment.

They gave us the boot at the renewal, left for less than 2% of a price difference.

I'm sure all the extra work they caused my coworkes in LA will not be missed.

I'll still get/eat the stuff, but as often as before.

The best part about our trip to Boston for our anniversary that I had mentioned a few weeks ago was Sunday brunch at a tiny place called the Allston Diner.  Made sure when we sat down to order two of the specials to-go before they sold out (which they did while we were there) Pumpkin cheesecake muffins.  They would have been amazing as Pumpkin Muffins but hidden in the middle were a few large chunks of cheesecake.
