I just got a call from a friend who was planning to go to this.  He arrived onsite a short while ago.  Since he thought I was going, he called me with a warning to delay my departure.

Apparently a girl fell off one of the buildings at the venue last night and died!     The venue is now a crime scene, and the festival organizers are clamoring around to move the whole festival elsewhere.

Attendees are stuck in a holding pattern in some parking lot, 25 miles away, or somesuch.

Anyway, this is a hot mess.    Please seek out official information before heading up.   And contact friends to warn them.

The show is NOT cancelled. It is being moved to Hudson valley resort. DO NOT GO THERE YET. We need to work out permits and all. But that is the plan."

Man, what a total drag for everyone involved.    Heart goes out to friends and family of the victim, and everyone else negatively effected by this.

Oh Rob, "a little too drunk" is when you throw up outside the privacy of a bathroom.

It sounds like a total shit show.

A shady person operating Kutsher's on the cheap all summer

The building no longer had a C.O. because of the owner's negligence.

A friend of the festival operator drinking on the roof of an unsafe building.

Yup, it was an accident. Prepare to get sued for everything you have.

how on Earth is a festival expecting to secure a new site on the day the festival starts?

....On a Friday of a Federal holiday weekend, when all Gov't officials have have likely taken a long weekend.

My friend onsite hears that a very small venue may have been secured in Bethel though.    ???     Maybe they'll still pull the rabbit out of the hat??

The Borscht Belt went to shit once the Hasids took over. Long gone are the glory days of the Concord, Grossman's and Nevele. Fond memories of the area growing up.

I'm not fucking laughing at the tragedy, just Greg's poor choice of words which I'm sure were completely inadvertent.

Please pardon my gallows humor, it's the only way I know how to deal with the world.

Can't they just have it in a state park?

There are no rangers working.

Just go all rainbow family and take one over for the weekend.

I do not believe that this is the event promoter, it is a band that was scheduled to play there and set this up so there was a place to go... and also camp.

VS the Walmart parking lot.

yes, a real bummer all around.  sad that a young person died.  plus some sources are saying that Kutchers didnt  have a CO and there were a lot of violations once the authorities got in there to inspect.  Plus on a personal note, a lot of money lost by me on this one :(

From the Damnsam website this morning:

We regret to inform 17th NY Harvest Fest Has been shut down due to the town claiming the resort was uninhabitable. We will be filing a law suit against the town and maybe more - stay tuned - We will issue refunds as soon as we can- we are sad and sorry - please be patient - we will do the right thing - we feel we have been targeted and we intend to prove it and get money and media for our cause - stay tuned for more = we also intend to do a show in honor of the life of our dear friend that was taken fro us in a tragic accident - the show will be Saturday evening somewhere near the site - we are working on the details, so stay tuned!!!!!
