When you are going away. Packing and all that they are like. What the heck is going on. Not again? My cat is all up in my face for about a week now. All I have to say about a cat is you get a vacation from me. You will sleep 98% of the time. I feel bad for the dog owners. They need more care. I just put out enough food for a week and Cassidy is fine. A dog thats a different story. Make sure your friends are taken care of

Cobalt was sniffing at the moutain of beer in the kitchen last night & giving me funny looks.  I think he knows something's up.  Either that or he just wanted a beer.

My Mom and Don (gotroot) will take turns checking on him while we're gone.  My guess is he'll be asleep 99% of the time since its his vacation from the humans.

Diamond is not happy!   she got antsy every time i fussed over the "food box" so she definitely knows i'm going somewhere, sometime soon.    she got more upset when it disappeared from the dining room though!

i don't think Tiger knows up front but i think he gets some sort of separation anxiety and gets uti's when i'm gone for a few days.    i'm going to try to call the house and talk to  him on the answering machine a couple times to see if that helps this coming week.    really!

I'll leave one or two of my shirts near Cobalt's favorite sleeping spots so he has something with my scent while were away.  Its supposed to comfort them and I guess it worked because I did the same thing in March when we were on a cruise and when we got home, the shirts I left out were absolutely covered in cat hair.

And yeah, I can relate. When we had dogs they were all so clingy and needy the week before vacations... This is our first dogless Vibes ever, and first dogless vacation in 20 years.
I'd trade this knowledge for the stress and kennel fees if I could.... *sigh*....

TyeDyedee I so put random treats around in weird places in house just to to see if the cat has been doing to the job. Patrolling (sp) the house. They are always gone :)

Sending out Vibes to all the pets.

i like hiding them in cracks around the windows she patrols the perimeter in

she monitors the outdoors like its her job

god help the kitty who taunts her thru a screen - i am scared she would probably go right thru it! :ravn:

(S)he should be OK.  Our first vacation leaving the cat home was back in March & we were gone for 10 days.  We had people coming in each day to check up on him and he was fine.  We got the cold shoulder when we first got home, but that only lasted a few hours.

Darla-Marie is off to "Canine Kindergarden" for Thurs-Sunday.

Yes, it is $$$... but we are in need of a VIBEs vacation!

It's cage-free doggie fun and when we drop her off, she will be off tail held high, and not even look back.

I have my best friend house sitting for me to watch after my two yeller labs. They'll probably stalk the window for the first day, but they love their 'Manda'.

But yeah, they totally know. They're not pouting though, they're getting excited. They think they're going too, because 98% of the time, I take them with me wherever I go. :( I don't want to see that look of disappointment when I go out the door and make them stay. The sad faces!!!

ophelia does this look like "wtf?!?!?! WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING!?!?!?!" as i leave the house with luggage...always makes me feel guilty so i try to toss some treats to the other room but she is like "what? you think i am STUPID?!" :plain: and sits there looking at me with so much attitude.

since marley passed, its been her and mommy so she really misses me

my mom (who comes to play with her and change her water/feed her) tells me that she usually pukes out of anxiety within an hour of my leaving

*sigh*

my lil ophie girl

Oh, it's not a mad "where do you think you're going?" look, it's the "how will I live another minute in your absence?" look. The "what did we do wrong to be abandoned like this?" look. The "we'll do anything if you just stay here with us!" look.

:gah:

It's just me and them, and they're beyond attached to me. I know it will make it that much harder when 'that' day comes, but they're so full of love! I can't help it! :cur:

On a similar but even larger scale, Trixi has been a nervous mess for a month now with all the packing, moving, etc.

She does not like the changes in routine nor the boxes and mess everywhere.

I don't think she's so sure if we're coming or going.
