I turned to the board because I've always thought family helped family. I'm just a guy trying to get out of a bind and better myself for the future of my children. I'm not trying to buy a luxury item here, just go to school.
But you'll plan a blowout dinner/bar crawl in Boston that will surely cost > $200 for yourself. Sounds like a luxury item to me. Actually, a lot of your dinners that you've posted about sound exactly like luxury items to most of us.
I do hope that school works out, but I also hope that you make good on the pledges. Asking to raise $2k so you can continue your grad school was pretty ballsy when you probably spend over $2k in luxury dinners a year and most of us might afford 1/10th of that and possibly have $10k, 20k in student loans. I've really never ever seen anyone else make such an ask here. Maybe for medical bill help or because their house (or neighbors) burnt down or was wiped out in a flood. But "help me pay my tuition because I don't want to take out a student loan like everyone else"??? Nope. Sorry. That's a bit beyond family helping family...

...and how the fuck would I rack up $200 in charges in Chinatown and at the Tam? Blowout it certainly is not. I barely drink. Wow.

I'm figuring that it was Josh's right to ask, and everyone else's to pony up or not.
I further figure that I need to look at my own life and what I've done in it and make sure it's all pretty damned spotless before I publicly judge anyone else for anything.
Guess what, it ain't spotless...

"Entitlement: Narcissists hold unreasonable expectations of particularly favorable treatment and automatic compliance because they consider themselves special. Failure to comply is considered an attack on their superiority, and the perpetrator is considered an "awkward" or "difficult" person. Defiance of their will is a narcissistic injury that can trigger narcissistic rage. "

Sure he had a right to ask. He also has an obligation to complete the charity work. I look forward to seeing what he does.
Were you judging him? If not then what I wrote doesn't apply to you.
Wanna fight about it?
