IMHO, yes.  Why would you do that to a cute little poodle??  :undecided:

And he looks just thrilled about it, too.

Good point TEO!  :jamguy:

But I can see it and its hideous.  I'm embarrassed for the poor football dog.

she's pinching his tail to achieve pain directed control.

I've done this with my own nipples so I know it can be abusive, when boundaries are crossed.

Or perhaps paint with glow in the dark paint? Think of the possibilities....

Seriously, does the dye irritate the dog's skin?   Is it possible that there could be toxic effects to the dog?  I cringe when I see stuff like this.....I really do.

So, animal abuse?  Quite possibly yes.

Many people color their hair voluntarily.

True, I'm one of them.  But my guess is the dog didn't volunteer, especially to look like a technicolor nightmare.

I know some of us humans have reactions to bleach/hair dye, I wonder if animals experience the same thing? I got a chemical burn on the back of my neck once due to a sloppy application of bleach and it wasn't fun at all.

What about those temporary hair dyes?  Do those burn as well?

*seriously I will not grant my hairdresser permission to dye my hair.

If you're talking about the rinses that wash out in a few weeks, I've used those as well and never had a problem.

I've been highlighting my hair for years and only had an issue one time (the bleach episode I mentioned).  Other than that I've never had a reaction to any of the stuff used to color my hair... no burning, nothing.  And my skin leans towards being sensitive so I'd assume my scalp would follow suit.  Plus, these days, it seems like the dyes aren't as nearly harsh as they used to be and I haven't had bleach used on my hair in years.  My hairdresser used to strip my hair, then color it, now its a single process with foil.  Doesn't take a long and it smells a whole lot better!

I only think it's abuse if the color causes harm.  I mean, we do all sorts of things to our pets that wouldn't happen in nature.  I like to think my Shih Tzu enjoys his perm, but really he could probably care less.

It's my dog and I'll paint him any color I want.

Remind me to tell the offensive version of that joke to Julius at vibes.

Because "vagina" doesn't rhyme with "hair."

Amazing what people will subject their pets to. I don't know about you guys, but where I'm from, if there was a rhinestone collar to be had, it went on mama.
