anti-black anti-women.  Don't watch if you're easily offended. vibe guides, I'll understand if it needs to be taken down.  Just wanted to see what people thought about this.

No most ads for Lil Wayne albums contain more and worse stereotypes.

In more civilized countries it's called comedy. :dunno: Maybe I'm so skewed because of the extreme brands of comedy I subscribe to.

I think the offended black communtity may be missing an underlying message...

Clearly the woman was attacked by an animal...like a goat and what do the cops do????

The COPS put innocent black men in a line up with a goat...isn't that what happens in everyday life?

Couldn'tthis have been used as an example of the issues facing the African American people to bring to light of the injustecs they still face?

There was another commercial depicting a black cop pulling over the goat....if you watch the whole series of these ads...it doesn't comeacross as racist IMO

I saw a bit about it this morning. I guy was saying it does so much damage because it perpetuates the stereotype that african american males are violent crime offenders.

No  the goat in the lineup was a mountain dew commercial, and the other one was a target ad label for a certain dress size.

I reject the "Lighten up" response--as if we just don't have a sense of humor if things offend our sensibilities.

Having taught a critical studies in advertising course, I can tell you ads don't just sell products, they sell narrative, lifestyle, understandings of our relationships, ourselves, our world, and our place within it.. and affect us in ways that we are most often unaware.

I find this ad really distasteful.

Not policing anything, didn't say the ad should be banned (just sharing my opinion, like everyone else here). And, has nothing to do with morality, JT, has to do with impact and consequences of cultural messages.

Holy vegetarian crap cat woman?!?

I kid...I kid

Did you watch all 3 of the ads? If you watch all 3 you'll find it less offensive I think....watching only the one I can see how one would find it offensive...but that's almost taking it out of context...again, they also portrayed an African American as a police officer and nice affluent people in a nice restaurant.

nope, didn't see all three.

I'm, admittedly,  hypersensitive to people dismissing ads as innocuous  (only because I've spent so much time researching how much they're really not)

p.s. Tim's vegetarian gravy is awesome--we'll convert you yet.

Nothing wrong with anyone's thinking about the ads message being negative either and hypersensitive prolly should be the way I look at it too

I just saw Django recently so my perceptions may be a little off as well.

So you you (China) and Tasb may be right in your thinking

The gravy we'll have to wait and see
