"Finding myself disgusted with people who put others down in a derogatory fashion and or make snide comments merely because their point of view is different. Does this paint me as intolerant as well?"

I love the "real libertarian" line.

On the topic though, i don't know that there is a right or wrong way to go about any of it. From my point of view, you can't change anyone's mind about anything anyway. I find it just as repugnant when statists try to cram shit sandwiches in my mouth.

In the end we're all fucked. Enjoy the ride.

While we can not change some one's mind but we could help educate them, and help them realize for themselves what a douche nozzle they really are for being so ignorant.

I've been thinking that those the most intolerant probably need compassion.

They need to chill the fuck out, stop obsessing over other peoples' perceived shortcomings, and work on their own.

Compassion is definitely part of it.

I struggle with this sometimes.

They do...and they're often the ones for whom it's the hardest to summon.

"If you watch political programming and read pundits or blogs that are aligned with your ideology you are reinforcing existing beliefs without question in a circular echo chamber of intellectual masturbation. In order to garner a wider concept of reality its a necessity to read the counter argument and debate others that view the world differently then you. None of us have all the answers and ideologically speaking left and right both have serious faults. I am annoyed with the constant badgering of others just because they view the role of government differently, or economics, or foreign policy. There is common ground, there is resolve. If people would just discuss things with an open mind without caricaturing the opposing view into an easily scoff-able box this would be known to all. Not all conservatives are selfish bible loving gun toting people. Not all liberals are naive ideologues that are against liberty and for a tyrannical big government. Stop calling the other side names regardless of where you stand, listen to others, find common purpose and go from there. IT IS NOT BLACK AND WHITE. IT IS IGNORANT AND RIDICULOUSLY DELUSIONAL TO BELIEVE YOUR PARTY IS RIGHT UNEQUIVOCALLY. Thanks for reading the vent and hopefully the message therein takes root rather than the frustration seeping through the words." - Bryant
