Can anyone give me a ball park on monthly oil payments? I see that some oil companies offer monthly plans that if you pay the same amount every month all year regardless of what you use I'm just trying to get an idea of what that payment might be.

My Monthly payment for 10 months is $150.     it changes from year to year, based on oil prices.    it's only an estimate, at the end of the year, I may owe them a couple hundred $$$ to cover any shortfalls.   The next season would reflect the adjusted increase.

Habit how big is your house or apt. in Sq ft?

too many variables to just randomly pull a number out of thin air.

 

eg: locale; sq.ft.; competitive purveyors; co-op buying; personal temp preference; the cost of crude; efficiency of the system...you get the picture.

 

call around and see what your options are.  be prepared for sticker shock.

I am locked in at 3.78 for a year.

Based on National Energy code(Or state) and if your house is built to those standards I can usually get within 15% of yearly consumption.

 

 

Oil heating equipment is all pretty much 80% efficient, unless you got some $$ for a High Eff. Buderis.

My former abode was two living units, approx 2,454 sq ft and we used around 1,000 gals of oil per year.

Last year was the cheapest in a while for me.....my house is around 1600 sq ft ....in the winter of 2012 I bought oil three times.... november 2011 I filled my tank 209 gallons @ $3.489...$734....February 1 I filled my tank $658...182 gallons @ $3.629 I didn't fill it again till December 205 gallons @ $3.449. That comes out to around $1450 estimated for the year......$120 per month. I would say $160 per month would be the high end for me.
