Be sure to check out the new Mazda6 if you're looking at cars in that segment.

Mazda6 > Fusion IMO

 for looks or performance?

some mazda's utilize ford tech and vice versa (just curious)

both

Mazda and Ford split up a few years ago.  zero tech sharing between the brands these days.

You can't get a V6 with the Mazda6, but the 4 performs well enough delivering 37mpg highway and the best handling in the category.  Diesel coming later in the year for a ride with more torque if that's what you're after.

If I were in the market for a mid-sided family sedan from a non-luxury brand, the Mazda 6 would be what I'd buy without question.  We have a couple of Mazda3s now.  Once you get used to the handling they offer, other brands seem boring to drive.

that new mazda diesel looks awesome.  14:1 compression ratio for a diesel is unheard of.  aluminum block too, which I'm not sure if that is good or bad.  I'm leaning towards bad.

Cool.. looking forward to getting it, around these parts Tabbooma only see's honda's, toyota's, etc... no Fords at all, excluding pick ups.
