I was never a  big fan.  If I lived in that area I'd probably live in New Paltz or Fishkill

New Paltz and Fishkill are both traffic nightmares, but I agree if I lived on my own I would like to live in NP

I like it here. NP would drive me crazy when the college kids are in town. It's why I can't live in a touristy area like Saratoga either. I hate a huge influx of seasonal people!!

There is a lot to do, a lot of great places for kids, rail trail, walkway, great parks & rec system, bardavon, the chance, I'm 5 minutes from anything that I could want but my backyard feels like a state park. Lots of kids on our street

I say YAY Po'Town!!

although it is getting very crowded! :joker:

haha, It's ALWAYS the people that moved in being the ones who complain about it getting crowded.  It's like they wanna move up here and lock the door behind them. :)

I love new paltz but the traffic is kinda bad and annoying. So I moved to high falls :D

Of course now I live in ct and would trade it all for the traffic of new paltz in a heartbeat!!
I'd live in Poughkeepsie too. It's not a bad place to live. Lots of rich history and things to do.

yeah almost did. Would have if the housing market didn't crap out right under us. Although, as my parents & Frank's parents are getting older & crazier, I'm quite thankful we didn't move 20 minutes away from both of them! 2 hours is a good distance!!

Just heard a segment on my ride to work on the local NPR radio station about this article.  They also made referenced how the city has been joked on or mocked in movies and TV, most notably on Ally McBeal and in the movie French Connection.

"You still picking your feet in Poughkeepsie?"
