4. Skyfall

5. Life of PI

WORST:

1. Battleship

2. The Dark Knight Rises

Sometimes I used to go see the big every five years type blockbuster, I saw Avatar last I think, and hated the 3D thing, haven't looked back.

Ya, the price.... and I don't want to sit that close to that many people unless I'm flying somewhere.

the pirate bay isn't exactly legal and technically makes you a "thief" but that's a fair trade for new movies on your couch.

Django was terrible.

Haven't yet watched Life of Pi, though I don't expect much out of it.

Didn't get a chance to see safety not guaranteed, but I wanted to.

Moonrise was a fun and quirky movie. Thoroughly enjoyed. Silver Linings Playbook was better than expected.

No way Django wins any Oscars.

I saw Skyfall, the Hobbit, and 3 indy foreign language films that you mainstream hippies would disdain. But I would LOVE to see Django.

Speckta man, I haven't even seen it yet and I already know you're wrong.

It amazes me that people don't go to the theater to see a movie.  It is my favorite activity besides going to see music.  Movies are meant to be enjoyed with strangers on the big screen.

That was me last year, so I made an effort to get out there more this year. I think 5 in a year is a record like since I was a kid. It helps to have parents and sister with interesting intellectual tastes to go see movies with.

Although we had had these longstanding family plans to all go see The Hobbit together, like planned since Xmas of 2011. And I just had to see it the second it came out on the biggest screen possible and be exactly half way up and center so of course I had to dump them all.

Best I saw in 2012:

  • The Master
  • Django Unchained
  • Bernie
  • Moonrise Kingdom
  • Looper
  • Cabin in the Woods

Biggest disappointment of 2012 was probably Brave.

That's cool that so many liked Moonrise Kingdom,  I've canoed and kayak'd those very waters countless times over the past decade....  my folks watched some of the filming from across the pond...  I can't wait to see it!!

Have been trying to get out to see more movies in the theater since the place right around the corner from our old apartment plays movies for $2.  Must have only been to a few this year though (Wedding planning devoured our lives for a solid 7 months) and don't even remember what they were.   Thinking of going to see Skyfall there or Warm Bodies with a gift cert at the "real" theater on Saturday.
