Politics and Religion should never be discussed at the dinner table or the bar, not every one agrees and more than likely will never agree... This is one forum disussing topics on the very subject, to say that it erodes friendships I think is bullshit, a real friendship can overcome any discussion. I have a couple good friends that are 2nd amenders, beileve that the towers were brought down by the goverment, they need their guns just in case, fuck one of them thinks we were never on the moon, we have our discussions but dont go marching away if that persons side of the discussion is not accepted by the other...

It's not about the side of a discussion, it's about the way it's discussed. And I think that the idea that disrespect doesn't erode friendships is bulshit myself.

Was never a friendship if the otherside cant take it a bit, Tabboomas friends are not that sensitive when it comes to a razzing, that is why politics should not be discussed at the dinner table or the bar.. passed along by many a generation in Tabboomas family

We have great discussions in the documentary club threads, with a range of subjects on which people strongly disagree . Never once have I noticed or felt posters attack, demean, on condescend one another. The debate is always focused on the issue, and never directed toward people posting opinions about the issue. They are my favorite threads and discussions.
Just seems to be some unnecessary jabs, (seemingly) condescending winkydinks, and focus on people posting, rather than issues. And, I'm not really sure why? I suppose it's a style of interaction and maybe there isn't a disrespectful intention, but what is the intention of these comments then? And, for the sake of climate and community, would it really be problematic to avoid using them and just stick to the issue being debated?
Maybe some readers could work on reducing their sensitivity but, at the same time, maybe some posters could work on increasing their own. And, neither would have to if people just stuck to debating the topic at hand. hats off to Jabadoodle, Depends, and others who consistently do this.
Hope everyone is bundled up with warmth, food, and the ones they love. Enjoy the snow.

I agree with this to an extent. I think this forum isn't a good place for the razing though because it is incredibly easy to misread someone on the tron. And when you have a group like this, who happen to all be friends, then some butt hurt can happen.
As someone who holds a lot of respect and love for the lot of you, I try to TakeAStepBack and remember that i can not see expression, i can not hear the tone, I can not be held responsible, she fell in love in the first place. For the life of me, I can not remember, what made us think that we were wise and we never compromise...
Er, UHM!. Anyway, what I was saying was, I love yous guys. So play nice and we'll see you at the Vibes. ![]()

Even though I wanted to punch you one day because of your razzing.
You are still cool in my book.
Oh and I should be at the Vibes this year, see you all there.
