This thing really makes Gathering of the Vibes look like an amazing value for money!!!!!
It's an OK lineup, $399 for a 4-day pass, and there's no camping. Is this what festivals are destined to become?

Dammit, local radio station gave away a pair of VIPs to caller #10 today and I was caller #not 10.
I just don't see coughing up $400 and another $200/night for a hotel for this. Oh well. Maybe I'll change my mind if Bobby suddenly comes down with the flu.

I don't even know one song of Kings of Leon or Zac Brown so I can't say that thrills me and these days I would pay NOT to see Franti. But there is some good stuff on there for sure.
kings of leon...don't waste your time. saw them at jazzfest. moved on to listen to good music at another stage.

Dear Adam I have never gotten frustrated with you and used one of my annoying overused catchphrases to get out of a discussion with you. Don't make me start now.

i get a free pass today. yesterday some dude decided hitting my car was an easier way to stop than using his brakes and, as a result, i'm taking drugs that make me goofy.

and at least one of the headline bands has headlined at vibes.
Vibes "biggest" act last year was Primus. Primus is on the 5th line of this fest. Opinions on the lineup are debatable, the amount of cheddar this lineup costs to book is not. Is it worth $400? It depends, if they limited this fest to 15,000 people or less, I would pay $400 for this. Shit, Vibes tix or Mtn. Jam tix are like $250 and their lineups typically aren't nearly as good as this fest lineup for my personal tastes.

I might just remind everyone that there is an festival circuit out there with tickets averaging $60 for the weekend.
You'll still get a couple of bands you like, a couple of stinkers, one or two new bands you had never heard of that you really dig, and a bunch of filler. Still get to camp out, grill, drink copious amounts of booze, not get hassled for anything else. Still get to be with your friends in a field listening to music. All for 1/5th the cost and a lot less hassle.
This message is brought to you by:
JibberJazz
Jerry Jam
Stealyourfest
Sterling Stage
Live Free
Pondfest
Upstate Boogie
Camp N Jam
Kind Roots
ZionTific
Dam Show
Slyboots
and the list goes on and on and on.
I understand there's a market for the big names and the big price tags and the big herds. I'm not disputing that. But if you're standing there with your eyes closed, does it really matter if its Furthur or Splintered Sunlight? Some expensive band you really don't dig, or some local band you really don't dig? Music bringing people together to celebrate life will always happen, you don't need a gold card to buy in.

The thing about this festival is they are trying to please too many people. It's so many different types of music that combined a lot of people wouldn't want to go to all four days of. I am surprised they didn't throw in some crappy electronic artist like bassnectar or pretty lights for good measure.

With their being no camping I'm sure they'll sell day passes. In the Napa Valley, I bet this fest will do just fine.
