the cops there are friendly, respectful and pretty awesome in how they appreciate us
Yeah but they're still sissies when it comes to skunks.
Pepe was running full tilt towards me and this cop I was chatting with around 3am and I looked at the cop and said, "You're a cop, SHOOT IT!".
The cop says, "NO WAY!" and jumps in the car. ![]()
Pepe stops in his tracks and starts chowing down on some ground score.
I walk away. ![]()

Alright, you asked for it. Here's my list:
Love:
- This video and that video .
- The sense of community and the ability to party pretty much anywhere without getting bitched at.
- Performing at them.
- Working production crew at them.
- Laughing at people that supposedly hate the Grateful Dead. They are the antagonists of planet Earth.
- Attempting to convert people to listen to the Grateful Dead and getting weird scared looks in return. They will listen to "Anthem of the Sun and American Beauty" sooner or later.
- Making the mynock joke every year - "If anything goes wrong at a music festival, blame the mynocks chewing on the power cables".
- Listening to all the talented artists who can teach me new ways of the force.
- When Dark Star Orchestra plays "St. Stephen".
Hate:
- Getting drunk at them.
- Drunk dudes who are obnoxious and steal my Ex Girlfriends from me.
- The angry excuse that no one supposedly can afford the ticket prices.
- Egos of the corporate establishment.
- The political system in which we live in.
- Khan!
- World War II (just because Wolverine was there).
- Samba In The Rain.
- Easy Answers.
- Madison Square Garden security gaurd in the 200 level during the Phish shows.

LOVE: seeing friends, dancing, freedom, sunny days, finding new bands I love, smaller fests that let you bring what you want (no Nazi-like security), clean portos
DON'T LOVE: not being able to have a fire (though understandable), Furthur, horrible Bobby sets, not being able to bring your own booze on the field, irresponsible parents, Blood Red Roses and songs about Kangaroos

and see I cringe every time phil sings.... different strokes for different folks.
Finding new bands is the best, If I just went to place where I already knew all the bands, I wouldn't have came across all these awesome ones of this age
Pretty much love everything about festivals except lack of sleep and the line to get in. Though the line can be fun sometimes.
The line is give more take, fun or hell (cause your there but not quite there/there). My buddy showed me these cheap sleeping pills from walmart and you get a nice 6 or so hours of sleep when you can't but you really would like to. Helped give me some sleep to rage the next day away

Some festivals have good radio programing for the people in line.
That's where I come in! Stay tuned for 2013 lineup in April.....
Also gotta agree with Blood Red Roses, irresponsible parents and pretty much anything One Direction has ever done as things I have hated at past Vibes festivals.

Back when it almost never happened it was kinda fun, I thought. Once he had his own band, not so much.
I put this in the Be Careful What You Wish For category.
I have a friend who was one of the early Phil chanters.
He still loves to hear Phil sing, but can't carry a tune either. ![]()

Love:
- Most of the people
- Art everywhere
- Ferris Wheel
- Phil's Sets cause he knows to rock out!
- Boardie Staff
- Bringing my family
Hate:
- The people who park in Family Camping who aren't with their family and try to move my tent
- Dirty Bathrooms
- Bob's sets cause he brings me Branford Marsalis & Bruce Hornsby and plays music that put even the zooted kidz to sleep

Love:
dead-related music
acoustic jams with friends
a Check Your Instrument booth so I know it will be safe
great food options like Wonka said
vegetarian food options
shelter from sun/rain
kids games/entertainment
secure camping area for families/kids
TRUE quiet area - all day/night
good showers
Hate:
ANY wait to get in. Even two hours is too long in a line.
music too early or too late at night
lack of places to sit and eat a nice meal
shotty showers
mud - have a better plan than hay please!

I'll tell ya one thing though - I know most people love the music 24/7. Personally, I'm on the other side of the fence - when I retreat to my tent for a mid-day nap or an earlier than average bed time, I like to have quiet in my tent area. I realize quiet and fest don't necessarily go hand in hand. That's why I've started considering offsite options more often than not lately.

far from a troll, my friend. i was just hoping either you or someone else had a more effective means of dealing with mud on he field.
aerating the main field a week or so before a fest would help. When I worked at summer camp we had tons of fields. they aerated them weekly and they drained quite well when it rained.

Friendly fest "ambassadors" People that walk around to answer questions, give directions, or even the time of day.
This is what i did for three years at GreyFox. I was on the mountain bike crew ,we would ride all around the fest going to campsites answering questions and talking about anything.

If you are talking about the skunk next to the baseball field at vibes last year he was pretty cool. Prolly pretty sure he inhaled, got the munchies and was looking to score some food. He even posed for a few pictures....
