HI.

 

So My office is moving locations....

 

This is really cool... a new office.. new desk.. new location.. This is all good stuff....

 

I will be sharing my office with 1 other person.. and I have been there longer, so I have dibs on the layout of the furniture n shit...

 

So, I want my desk to be facing the wall.... 

 

She wants our desks to be facing each other....

 

ugh. 

 

How do I not sound mean.....when I fight for the wall facing desk?   I really dont want to look at ANYONE all day... lol....

Facing someone all day would fuckin suck. The buffer and too much talking theory sounds good. But what if she faces you and stares at your back all day? Watching you on the webs all day & shit?

We would both have to be facing the wall, I think... I would probably hate it even more if she was behind me. lol.  And I'm on the phone all day...It would just be killer.  I really don't know what she's thinking...

Is the room rectangular or square? Is there a window on the wall opposite the door? (If not, which wall?). It's good to be able to see who's entering your office, and to be able to see out the window. If you need a piece of wall next to your desk, make sure you have one. How about an L-shaped layout (if she doesn't need wall, that would give you wall).

If you're both on the phone a lot, putting the desks as far apart as possible makes sense. If you do wind up facing each other, can you put bulletin boards back to back between you? But, really, so the people you're both talking to don't hear the other person on the phone in the background, it just makes sense to not be so close. If you both sit behind monitors, you really won't see each other so much.

I haven't seen the new office yet, so I'm not totally sure.  All I know is that we have full control of the layout.  

 Right now, I share the room with her, and 1 other.  The room is more rectangular, so It works that we are all facing seperate walls.  It will just be the two of us now.   She said she didn't mind not being next to the window, so I will try to have my desk maybe against it the window, Facing the wall? ... Maybe.  Im so excited! the smell of new carpet awaits!

Place the desks facing each other with some space between. Get a decorative screen from an antiques store or thrift shop. Place it between the desks. Problem solved.

 

If the problem is not solved, start eating eggs, broccoli, and cabbage.
