19 years ago, PFunk Allstars with real PFunk allstars the only ones not there were dead, not the young bucks that tour as allstars now. Bernie, Boostsie, George, Hampton, etc. Also only show I saw with Mothership prop that landed and took George. 4 hour show in Providence.

Hard to pick just one, but one that stands out is Steely Dan in 1993. The show opened with the band playing an instrumental medley (Royal Scam/Bad Sneakers/Aja). At the end of the song, Becker and Fagen came out from opposite sides and shook hands center stage. The crowd erupted as if they'd been holding it in for 19 years.

Dammit! I have to wait until I get home to see those photos. What an incredible weekend that was.
it really was one of the most fun weekends of ever, despite how it wrapped up for Jason and i
though we made the best of it in the end...camping in the VIP lakeside area after everyone else went home and we had the whole place to ourselves was nice ![]()

some high points from the last 20 years:
driving in the pouring rain in nola, with my brother behind the wheel, dave malone (rads) in the front passenger seat, and paul barrere sitting next to me in the back seat, as we belted out beatles tunes together. it was ~3am.
seeing dr. john as the night tripper. i've seen mac play more times than i can recall, but only once as the night tripper with all the gris gris and whatnot.
dancing drunk in frenchy's art gallery, to ed volker tickling the ivories on the piano in the front room. just the two of us, with me singing along while he played blues standards after a rads show.
sars-stock in toronto. the whole thing. start to finish.
roger waters' the wall in buffalo a couple years ago.
watching jeff beck from side stage.
standing 5 feet in front of bb king. was like a private lesson.
having buddy guy, as i fiddled with my camera getting ready to take his picture, say to me (into the microphone) as he pointed at me "don't fuck it up!" you can hear this on the recording of one of his vibes sets.
watching my parents play with their musical group, to a packed house in concord, nh, a few years back.

yeah...how could i have forgotten my first concerts ever?
The Jackson Victory Tour in 1984 at Madison Square Garden and Giants Stadium. in retrospect there were lots of tensions and issues with this tour, but as a 12 year old kid who was completely gaga over MJ...these shows were a dream come true!

that would be 30 years. ![]()
if we're going back 30 years or more...i'll have to start pulling stuff out of the deep recesses of my mind (eg: hanging with benny goodman backstage at carnegie hall; or having johnny cunningham playing in our living room; or seeing sarah vaughan at the hollywood bowl while sitting in michael tilson thomas' box, etc.). i grew up (and still am) surrounded by live music.

I love the monkees.
a highlight: Taking my little sister to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, last fall.
Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance, every year I've been
Gathering of the Vibes, ditto
The Monkees were really good, in December.
Seeing Matt Abts get excited like a little kid to see Bernard Purdie playing his kit at Mexicali at Melvin Sparks' 65th birthday show in 2004 was pretty cool.
So many amazing moments in venues and on fields of many sizes, really.
Paul McCartney, 2002, I think.
Second row at The Who, several years ago.
Donna the Buffalo, many venues.
Govt. Mule in CT, post-vibes, w/Sums and other wonderful people.
Post-Gelston Castle w/Joe and Laura's cousin with salt potatoes.
Filming a friend in his parents' living room.
Clapton/Winwood at the Garden.
Warren and friends/ish at Irving Plaza.
Mountain Jam, every time.
Neil Young, 2nd Row at the Palace.
Phil and Friends at the Tower Theatre, one year, and on Halloween, another.
Phish is always terrible. ![]()

The 1st time I saw Dr John was as the night tripper, but that was way over 20 years ago.
Nevilles/Rads/Subdudes NOLA House of Blues 1995(?) two nights during JazzFest

20 years for me encompasses every single music experience I've ever had being that I was 8 at the beginning of the time period ![]()
Let me do my best though, in no particular order:
1. Big Apple to the Big Easy benefit concert for Hurricane Katrina - Radio City Music Hall: Dave Matthews brings out Trey Anastasio and they close his set with a performance of Three Little Birds. After they leave the stage the audience keeps going singing "don't worry, about a thing, cause every little thing is going to be all right" the entire chorus refrain for what felt like about twenty minutes. Eventually they come back out for the encore and finish the song a second time. It was musical bliss, felt so spontaneous and so real. Incredible.
2. Keller Williams and Martin Sexton - The Electric Factory in Philadelphia: I don't remember the exact year and I'm too lazy to look it up but these two guys toured together one year. The entire show was one of my musical highlights because they both each played a full set followed by another full set together. I must've gotten four hours of music in this one show and I'll never forget it.
3. Mickey Hart Band - Bears Picnic Music Festival 2012. Simply mind blowing, sure I might have gotten a little beside myself and had to take a minute or two back at the campsite during set break but despite this it was amazing ![]()
4. moe. - Gathering of the Vibes 2011: musically I don't know if this counts in terms of the best I've seen but in terms of the moment, everything was just right, beautiful sky, approaching sunset and the heat was sort of starting to break a little bit finally. Had my mind in just the right place and was with some new friends, my first vibes and everything just clicked...
I'm sure there's more but these are the ones that come to mind at the moment ![]()

that is in my number 5...i saw the ma show of the same tour and i had goosebumps the entire time...it was flawless and the energy and musicianship was incredible...it didnt hurt that it was at great woods before the grass went away, so i was on a lush lawn, looking up at the stars...such a perfect night with my best friend
number 4 is the neil young and crazy horse show i just saw last nov...it was just everything i wanted it to be and more and i had the most excellent time...wonderful company, in my hometown and my favorite rock band of all time playing like so many other bands TRY to
3 is a few years back (late 90s?) i caught my old faves the indigo girls at the south shore music circus in ma...if you havent been, its a theater in the round and the "worst" seats are like 12th row...and the stage spins so you always have a good view...it was like a singalong party and the band was so good and the audience was so enthusiastic and the vibe was just incredible, moreso than any show of theirs i had seen
2 is mini vibes masters of bluegrass night was epic...standing at vassar clements feet and worshiping the bluegrass gods by dancing and smiling and singing was my own slice of heaven and the bluegrass experience i judge all others by...simply perfection
best of all was clifford ball...some of the most consistently brilliant music that was ripping up countless numbers of minds, led to the most religious experience i have had at a phish show...the scene, the music, the people...it was perfection
lots of other shows are so close to making this list, like the CSNY 2000 show...and the ray lamontagne show a few years back...

Hmm....Rolling Stones at UConn? Jeff Beck at Jazz Fest? Roger Waters in Boston? Clark, Ponty & DeMola at The Egg? Etta James, Ray Charles, The Neville Brothers, The Radiators, Hmm...so many more great live experiences from which to choose.
oh yeah...etta with ackroyd looking over my shoulder...and that egg show was sick. (w/in the last 20 years)
also i saw dizzy gillespie three times; saw srv three times; saw peter tosh three times; jorma played my guitar in my living room; saw john lee hooker backed by the stones; and i saw the beach boys in '76. (none of those shows were in the last 20 years)
i'm sure i'll think of a few more.

Umphrey's McGee 8/11/12 at the Klein. We had front row tickets, but the security guard told us "the show likes everybody up front, so we're not holding the line. Better grab a spot now." We spent the whole show leaning on the front of the stage.
NRBQ at Toad's Place November 2012. I hadn't seen them in almost 20 years, not since the Big Al Anderson days. The new lineup was killing it, and Terry Adams was as crazy as ever.
Project/Object at Toad's Place with Ike Willis and Ray White. Zappa Plays Zappa may be technically perfect, but Andre's band "draws the eyebrows on it," especially with Ray & Ike.

i regret not including my favorite jerry moment at MSG in 1994 in my list
it was the sat night show and i was miracled into the first row at the beginning of the 2nd set
i was still a total gneub and was
about being so close
i just stood there and felt like i was at church and then he played 'standing on the moon' with me just a couple feet below him and i balled my eyes out
he saw and smiled and winked at me and i signed "i love you" to him in ASL and he did it back ::swoon::
i like to think that perhaps he remembered meeting me in albany in 93 but know he likely didnt, but that didnt matter...it was a special moment ![]()
he may not have been at the top of his game i nthose years, but he still had "it" ![]()

some others
Widespread Panic Halloween 2003. screw the haters I love me some George panic and that show ripped. I was somehow convinced that there were secret speakers under my seat making it sound so good.
Disco Biscuits New Years 09. After an extremely challenging year personally celebrated with some of the best people on the planet and man they brought it. Countdown medely, Shem rah ending, beautiful Mirrors, and my first time haring Naeba which blew me away. I remember it being a night of loving my scene and band again and realizing life will go on and everything will be fine. Walking through the garbage piles of times square at 4 AM was surreal.
10,000 Lakes Festival 2007. Never has a fest felt like such a home to me. Beautiful location, great vibes and people and stunning sets by Umphrey's, biscuits,Ratdog and Keller to name a few.
Rancid Roseland Ballroom 1998 or 99?. Life won't wait tour. So much fucking fun. Saw them again last year and they still go it. I think I have seen them more then any punk band and I love it every time.
Ozzy Retirement Sucks Tour RPI Fieldhouse 96. Senior in high school and Korn and Life Of Agony opened up. kick ass

but.. i guess if it is is favorite live experience... i have a few in my mind.. but i will throw out Primus set from this past year's Vibes... so much fukn fun... it was awesome to watch the preperation of the pig's head and the TLC and hard work that went to getting it wired up... then just the shenanigans and crazy costumes throughout the set... plus, i am a HUGE primus fan.. so being blessed by Les topped it off... had a lot of fun.. danced hard.. made people feel uncomfortable with my wig and white trash teeth.. WIN

This is just impossible but I'll try...
Simon & Garfunkel DC in 2003 ( I think) has to top all else. S & G are my first memory of liking music as a child. So to see them live was epic!!
CSNY @ MSG in early 2000's - amazing
2 is mini vibes masters of bluegrass night was epic...standing at vassar clements feet and worshiping the bluegrass gods by dancing and smiling and singing was my own slice of heaven and the bluegrass experience i judge all others by...simply perfection
This! totally amazing!!
Bob Dylan in Buffalo spring 96 I think - in some community college gym. I had seen him dozens of times before this but he put on a 3 hour show, mostly acoustic, with maybe 200 people there - AMAZING!!
My first Dead show of course! 3/23/91 at the Knick!! ![]()
JGB - can't remember where or the year but a girl came dressed all sparkly, mostly paint, with a silver star balloon & they played Shining Star & Papa pointed to her & smiled - so amazing!
The year Vibes was at Plattsburgh (98 I think) and we went from Vibes at Plattsburgh, which was amazing....by far my favorite vibes...drove to Hotlanta & went on Further tour, following it up the east coast to SPAC. Me & Frank were just together about a year at that point. So fun ![]()
There are so many more, Dead tours, Dylan shows, & others I am forgetting......I'm one lucky girl!
Oh & I suck at dates! ![]()

Rowan, Rice, Trischka & Doc Watson in Long Island at a small theatre - wanna say Huntington LI?
Shakti at the Egg - Shankar, Zakir Hussein & John McLoughlin
yeah I can't remember these dates either
They were all pre-kids so pre 2005
