Djinn Rumi? ![]()
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing
there is a field. I will meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn’t make any sense.
One of my favorites by Rumi...

His words remind me of you.
how so, TEO?
i will have to read up a bit to respond in full, but that will have to wait 'til after dinner, at the very least...
until then i will say this: though i haven't yet read his work, there is a lot i find that resonates in me, when i read this passage (which i admittedly found on a Wiki page on Rumi
)
Rumi encouraged Sama, listening to music and turning or doing the sacred dance. In the Mevlevi tradition, samāʿ represents a mystical journey of spiritual ascent through mind and love to the Perfect One. In this journey, the seeker symbolically turns towards the truth, grows through love, abandons the ego, finds the truth and arrives at the Perfect. The seeker then returns from this spiritual journey, with greater maturity, to love and to be of service to the whole of creation without discrimination with regard to beliefs, races, classes and nations.
i'm still working on abandoning the ego. guess i need to whirl some more, huh?
thank you for bringing him to my attention. for now, in this moment, my answer is "not yet"

oh...there's already another thread for that i see
TEO, here's one thing about quoting others: i read quite a bit , though never as much as i'd like, and i do appreciate you bringing Rumi to my attention because he seems like someone i could really vibe with - his thoughts on love especially.
but i try not to quote others very often. there are many, many friends who i love dearly and whose original thoughts i would love to hear more of. but they're busy quoting others whose thoughts and words they admire more than their own.
i think that's a shame. i'd really rather have an honest discussion, even if your words aren't as pretty. that's just something that i've thought for a while, and this thread seems as good a place as any to express it.
