Sorry...my wardrobe in the early 80's was strictly black, white, and grey.  I'm sure I owned parachute pants, but I NEVER dayglo and I never had as awful hairstyle as seen here!

It's a tale of two decades for me. Up through the end of 1985 I was all short hair and skinny ties, and nothing but black, white, gray, and blue clothes. Something happened to me in early 1986, and spent the rest of the decade as a patchouli-scented burst of color with a lot of hair.

Mine were for the ski slopes.

But i never had the diagonal zipper nor primary color issue.

The 80s for me were no different then any other decade except I couldn't legally drink (until 89 when I turned 19). I wear the same type of clothes still: jeans, t-shirts and sneakers or hiking boots - I did own a couple leather jackets though (growing up in biker family kind of a given). Music was/is pretty much no different still, minus a few heavy metal or punk bands and add some different styles now-a-days etc.

My parents shielded me (in a way) from the 80s, and kept the 70s going ten more years..

most of the photos at the other end of this link were taken at the smithaven mall in lake grove.  i think my older sister is in one of them :afro:

The Grateful Dead is how I got through it..........I did most of my touring in that decade, plus many other bands.....and finally they got a top ten hit(touch of gray),which they couldn't care less if it was a hit or not.strangely, songs like sugar magnolia, truckin, casey jones were never top ten hits, not even close, although got alot of air time.....longest running top hit in the 80's was olivia newton-john's'lets get physical'......blaaahhhh.........

always thought of the fashion as this...

tumblr_loaviwqKVz1qbkmx9o1_500.jpg

But know it was really more like...

Judd%20Nelson.jpg

and...

1980s-Fashion-Clothing-Stretch-Stirrup-P

but there are always options when fashion and music trends suck! (the target was disco in the 70's and we got through that ok)

remember those personics mix tape kiosks in the mall?

you go in and pick out songs that they put on your mix tape

you could design the tape cover and insert and name your tape

i remember mine had 'carry on my wayward son' (kansas) and 'barracuda' (heart) and 'missing you' (john waite) and 'too shy' (kajagoogoo) on it

i think i am glad i cant remember any more of the songs

i played it really loud on my boombox and in my walkman

with my big aqua net laden hair and stirrup pants :undecided:

Screw you guys, I have to relive this crap now with my 15 year old boy who when he isn't all metal and death metal he's glam metal playing metal guitar. "God I was so born in the wrong decade! I wish I was around in the 80's!"
