Aha, this is why we got screwed by the hotel (& Mtn Jam).  It was all about even more money than the top dollar they already charge.

So they screwed you out of your hotel but you are still going to pay them for VIP car camping.  Sounds like they won either way.

weather is not a factor if you dont let it be

plan for cold and rain, often hand in hand, and you will be fine

rain gear, waterproof shoewear that allows you to climb in slippery mud, if need be

layers to wear with raingear to keep you warm as both conditions occur simultaneously there, often

but the ability to strip off aforementioned layers at latenight indoor music as it is always a hot sweaty mess in there

fuck kaatskill

good riddance! :moon:

I paid for vip car camping only because it is the best real estate to camp on and comes with free showers and shitters plus access to the front of the stage.

I was going regardless, had already bought the ticket before the hotel fugged us all over and with this line up wouldnt miss it.

as is the case at vibes, you look at what is important to you and opt for what covers your needs

vip ticket and camping worked best for us as a group and we are all going to be in the same general vicinity and nancy will have us around to help her if she needs us

it worked out that we actually are spending less than if we stayed at the lodge, in the long run...

yes, i will be back after the fest to discuss the value of vip :rose:

I'd rather camp in cold/rain then 100 degrees, with 98% humidity anyway!! You can always add more layers, but you can't ever get more naked.  ;)

in the grassy field to the right of that building in the picture.

It is flat and grassy there.

Pretty much the only area at the mountain that is flat and grassy.

I feel bad for redulat car camping they will be in a pot holed dirt and rock covered parking lot if it rains they are screwed. (when it rains)

well, i am planning on minimal food and they are saying they are going to have the best of the Hudson valley food trucks.

So i am excited for that but all i need is that awesome bahn mi vietnamease green truck with the awesome little sandwiches and noodles.

Other than that i may bring some snacks, sandwich stuff and chef boyardee ravioli.

For a fat guy i can live on minimal food at a fest.

Hoping for some of these http://archives.chro...e-Hudson-Valley

Don't worry about coffee.  It was readily available from vendors.  I'll have my camping stove and will most likely bring the coffee pot at least as a back up.

as a viewer of the VIP area in the past, my opinion is that its not the best view ever

its two smallish slivers of the very center area between the two stages.  so basically, if you want to see the act on either stage, you have to get all over to that side of that viewing area...not terrible, but not optimal, but this doesnt concern me as i have alway shad a good view without it, so its a non issue!

my favorite thing about the viewing area is that they keep an aisle open so that you can easily get in and out while the music is going on

this is an issue during headliners and it will be nice for this nightblind gal to be able to get to the bathrooms without killing herself or someone else

as far as lines to get in, none of us refugee roomies from the kaatskill know cuz we always arrived mid-morning and drove to the door of the lodge...

i am thinking about posting a thread on the mtn jam board to ask a line up questions but probably wont as all they will be is guesses as no one has any direct experience as they have never had paid on site parking or car camping before!

i am guessing a lot of people will want to do both so who knows what flavor of a clusterfuck we will get

i went over to that board last week and people are PISSED about the pay to park or take a shuttle options...but hey, at least they dont have to shuttle all their gear on the shuttles! :dunno:

i have a good feeling...i think it will work out fine and be wicked pissah :Phishfolk:

i never bought beer there...what kinds of beer did they vend?

why dont you call the Hunter mnt learning center?

Nevermind i just did and Adrianna at the learning center says they have no showers in the building.

I am going with my origional premise they will most likely have a shower truck onsite for vip car campers an a shitter trailer.

yeah the bathrooms are not that big either in there.  I think there is just two shitters in the mens room.  people were scared to go in there at camp V because you had to walk past the police checkpoint.  made it great for non paranoid people in need of pooping. :pimp:

car camping is the same price as they are going to charge you to park on the mtn, i think ($30)

so if you want to not pay for parking or camping, they let you come up, unload then you have to drive off the mtn and park and get shuttled back to the mtn

then you schlep your stuff up the mtn and free camp

at least thats how i understood it...

and yes, i think vip sounds like a pretty damn good deal, too! :pimp:

I think I might pull the trigger and go vip.... what else am I doing with my life and money?

as much time as I put in going up I might as well get pampered and some what of a better spot camping.

sooo temping.... EF line up came out and I went ehhhh kinda sorta but not all there for me... so I think with the awesome line up of this and maybe one of the last times we see phil on the east coast?
