There are bears and then there are bears.
Mtn Jam has both kinds.
Are they friendly just begging for food.....or are they the type that will rip apart a tent to eat my soul? I've camped in bear infested woods before and it's no fun sitting up all night with a handgun waiting for the fuckers to leave my campsite alone. In reference to the other type of bears, I assume that is one of those once I go I'll know?

ask Kind Gee Girl about her cooler getting broken into. twice!!! 
they're not aggressive but may have cubs. the campgrounds are way too easy pickins to be ignored though, and they will be around. they are often on the concert field in the mornings and up the mountain as well, so if you're up early keep an eye out.

my first year there (5 or 6 years ago? 
) i remember standing at our usual spot on the hill and looking behind me and seeing a momma and 2 cubs kinda ambling by, about 200 yards up the mtn or so...i was like "ummmmmm...
...!!!!!"
and i am camping this year - car camping! - and i am bringing NO food cuz i am kinda not really into a bear ripping up my shit to get to it

Well, dont just take my word for it.
It depends.
How old are the kids and do you plan on camping?
I would think this fest is a little easier than other fests with kids since there is a ski lodge building with real bathrooms and sinks and a place to get out of the elements.
I personally dont think the kids area is anything that will keep a kid happy for more that 30 mins.
I also would be a little leary with this years line up.
I am expecting more people than Mnt Jam has ever seen and with all these major acts the party scene is most likely to be amped up a little more than usual.
Camping on the mnt poses its own challenges and the wat regular car camping is set up there is alot of walking involved and possibly up a real steep hill.
There is also the weather element.
The mountains are known for crating there own weather and it can go from beautiful to cold, wet, windy and hail quite quickly.

Absolutely. A great help.
We are going to hope to take the kids to grassroots instead. We love the Vibes and prefer to do Vibes as a couple rather than with the kids. Am picturing the party at MtnJam to be similar to Vibes.
If Furthur does a shed tour maybe we'll break our fake Jerry embargo and bring the kids to a lawn again. It's been two years since they heard Bob or Phil live. And now they are almost three and six.

I'm with Jambear about the kids. I have friends who brought their toddlers a few years ago and while they had a good time, I could tell it was exhausting. Bring mouth gaurds for them for when they decide to barrel ass DOWN the mountain. And do not underestimate the physicality of that mountain....chasing a 3 year old is no joke. And he's right, I' haven't been for a couple years, but the kids tent was only meh.

Its been going on for so long i forgot why it started but Chris and Warren dont get along anymore for a real long time.
Pretty sure it started way back when Mule was formed and they opened for a Black Crowes tour.

U guys camping? Need to hook up and go in together if thats the case
We have been trying to figure out how our 15X15 tent will fit into a 10X30 spot!! LOL!! Vip Camping, b/c we passed on the room at the Kaatskill, ironically you had to be VIP to stay there. here I am a week later.....

Aha, this is why we got screwed by the hotel (& Mtn Jam). It was all about even more money than the top dollar they already charge.

Thats right!! I was so mad when they asked for my VIP ticket reciept! Oh well!! It'll be a beautiful non rainy weekend in June right?

anyway.......yup Vip car camping.
I will be trying to get in as soon as i can.
I am sure it will work out that we can all camp close together.
anyone down with sneaking over to the mnt club and dropping a floater in the pool and jaquzzi?
