I know many of you already learned of it on Karen's book of face, but it is with a heavy heart and a hole in my soul that I must report that our beloved kitty of 19 years, Sage, crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday morning. As with our Delia, it was terribly, terribly difficult to let her go, but in keeping with our philosophy of doing what is best for our baby, not for us, it was the only option.
She was entering into renal failure. Her kidneys were basically shut down. We couldn't allow her to suffer, and I must say I believe she was ready for the crossing. She left us calmly and peacefully, soon to be reunited with Delia. I know without hesitation that they both will be waiting for us, somewhere, sometime.
Sage was a beautiful, loving Tonkinese. She was always one of the friendliest, most loving cats I've had the pleasure to meet. Unfortunately our online pics were lost when Webshots changed, so I'll have to wait until I get them online somewhere again before I can post one of her.
She will be truly and sorely missed.
On a related note, I'm happy to say that our wonderful, loving vet, Dr. Carlson, was able to give her a couple extra years of happiness with us. And when it was her time, he was beyond outstanding - so gentle, loving and truly concerned. For that, we will be eternally grateful to him.
In memory of both of our departed fuzzkids, please take a moment to hug your pet and give them a little extra love today. It's difficult to conceive how important they are to us, and how powerful our connection is to them, until they are gone.
We will always love you, Sage kitty, and you will be with us forever.
Thanks for listening, and we love you all. ![]()
