Do any of you freaky people make your own food?

We just started.

Simple stuff thus far, but we've slowly been adding in spices.

Whos got some clever ideas for baby food?

I did. I found making it & then pouring it into ice cube trays & freezing cubes & then popping them out into ziplocs made life much easier. 1 standard cube is about 1 ounce, if I remember correctly.

We do!  She loves it!  Her favorite is sweet potatoes, followed by avocado.  She's also had apples, prunes, peas, green beans, bananas, peaches.  She's quite the foodie!  We are going to start introducing spices, and pretty soon we get to start giving her some meats!  Eep!

I got the Baby Bullet for my shower.  I love it, especially with the cups that easily fit in the fridge in their own little tray.  I have to say plums were my favorite to make, peeling the skins from the steamed plums is neat, but the color after blending, its a beautiful pink!  Lol!  Aesthetically pleasing baby food!!!

Rich made more sweet potatoes the other day and put a pinch cinnamon in them.  She loves it!

We shall keep trying!

I don't know how to incorporate more chunky food.  She is picky with the puree.  Bah! :ravn:

slowly,,if she likes applesauce, steam up some chunks and leave them in.

or steam them and put them on her high chair tray and let her play around with them

I should rephrase that. She loves food pureed. When it's chunky, she gets confused and picky. I think I did say that, but just wanted to be sure. She loves her applesauce. I wanted to try to give her some chunks of that, and maybe some pieces of banana, see what she does. Just when you think you have it down, it changes.

Just keep on tossing the chunks out.

She'll mess around with them and eventually figure it all out.

I found that once they get to the age of adding chunky to pureed, most babies don't like that texture & it's easier to give up on the pureed & go to all table food

We put some peas on her high chair tray while we were eating dinner last night.  She enjoyed playing with them.  She would pick them up, look at them, mash them, put them in her mouth.

She still kind of waits for us to put it in her mouth for her, but I figure if we keep letting her play, she will eventually figure out she can do it herself.  She's a very smart little girl. :)

She ate some pieces of a cinnamon bagel on Saturday morning.  Picked them up herself and put them in her mouth! :)
