We would like to introduce everyone to our son Raehn  William.  ( His first name is pronounced Wren like the bird)

 

He was born on January 2, 2013 at 2: 47 pm. My water broke at 1:30 in morning just 2 and half hours after Cameraman got home from a business trip to Maine.

 

He decided to come 38 days early. He is in NICU at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. His lungs are not fully developed and is needing assistance.

 

He has shown improvement and has started to gain weight. His IV was taken out yesterday and his jaundice has seem to gone away.

 

Cameraman man and I are over the moon happy he is here we just wish he would have stayed in a little longer.

 

Any prayers and good vibes sent his way would be greatly appreciated.

It was amazing timing... that was a rough weekend.

 

I had found out on Sunday that my biological father died on Saturday. I wasn't upset, long story but I stayed in bed all day Sunday just encase not to stress myself out. I think that helped keep him in there a little longer.

Thank you... It is very scary in the NICU.

We have only been able to hold our son twice since he was born, its been very hard.

I cry a lot but its getting better.

Yesterday he slept on me for an hour.

 

We get up at 4 am and go see him and spend an hour or so in the morning with him, then a few hours in the afternoon, and then again in the evening. I do like having 24 hour access to him.

 

The NICU nurses are angles in my mind. They are loving, caring, patient and most of all the front line to keeping my son and other children alive.

I am very grateful for them.

Yeah I went and visited her NICU a couple of times years ago and it was scary as hell. Luckily yours is much bigger than some of the kids I saw in her unit, literally palm sized babies.

 

Anyone that does that type of work is a saint in my book

my mom was a NICU nurse until her MS made her have to retire early...she really loved her work and still gets pics from old patients

My sis was in NICU for about a month after she was born.  I was too young to really know what was going on except that the nurses snuck me in once or twice to see her, but I talked to my mom about it when I was older and she said the same thing--it was a very scary time but the nurses were so wonderful, it made it a little easier to deal with.  They really are angels. 

 

So glad you're both OK and that Cameraman got home from that trip when he did!   He's so beautiful!  I hope his stay in NICU is over soon.

Time for bed, i have to visit him at 4 am.

Good morning all!

 

Baby Moon had a good night. He tolerated to the switch from pushed air to high flow oxygen. This is very important because depending if he doesn't have any set backs he might be able to come out of the incubator in a few days.

 

Cameraman was able to hold him again this morning while he had his feeding. Right now its all through a feeding tube but hopefully this afternoon they want to use a bottle and see how his breathing goes with it.

 

These are major steps to his health.

 

The doctors refer to him as "Big Boy" because of how big he is and his strength.

He has a very strong kick, as mommy knows well. My little kicker caused bruises and internal bleeding during the pregnancy. He even kicked the doctor during the delivery when she would examine me. The doctor said she has never had that happen before.

When he was born he was kicking all the nurses as they were trying to clean him and check him out. They all commented on it. I think that strength and spunk is what is keeping him on the right path to recovery.

 

Cameraman and I are hopeful that our son will be home sooner than the 3 week mark that the doctors have predicted. That would be amazing so we can have our little moon with us but also so the hospital bills don't bankrupt us.

So baby moon has a high bilirubin count again. I think he likes having the light. It is his own person blue moon tanning salon.

 

He is tolerating the high pressure air!

 

But Neo-Cardiology  is watching him due to a heart murmur now. Tomorrow some time they will take a sonogram of his little heart and see what the deal is.

 

It is so scary at times. We are staying positive.... we have no other choice.

 

On a high note, Cameraman was able to feed him a bottle tonight! It was very exciting......

 

We feel like part time parents with him in the NICU.... but we will take what we can get.
