i just got off the phone with Jenny. Jay was transferred to Yale last night, and the move, though it took longer than anticipated, went well. he was placed in a medically induced sleep and intubated for transport but he's no longer being kept sedated to that extent now that he's at Yale. he is still intubated, which is helping him get restful, healing sleep that he needs right now. anyone who's ever slept at his place or in a tent near his can understand why that might be helpful, i think.
they're doing more testing and still trying to figure out what's going on. not much new to report, but his condition has improved a bit since yesterday and Jenny is thankful for the outpouring of love and support from everyone. she's going to try to get home for a shower and a change of clothes at some point tonight and will update here if she can at that point. she doesn't have access to the internet in the ICU.
just keep sending them healing, loving vibes and prayers and whatever else you've got, please.

Don't know if notes would get to him in ICU, but here's the link for "ecards" at Yale New Haven:

so they found the part of the brain where a virus attacked and cut off oxygen for a period of time, causing it to go into overdrive. what that means in the long term or short term is still a mystery, as they've yet to find what that virus is or how he contracted it. he is type 1 diabetic, rendering him more susceptible to viruses that you or i might breath in a million times and never be effected by.
he's still heavily sedated, in order to keep his heart rate at a safe level. when he's awake, he's clearly frustrated and scared, but still unable to communicate that with words. he just wants to get up and go, which i'm taking as a very good sign.
we've been told that this will most likely be a long process of elimination. he's being treated for absolutely ANY illness he may have, and he got to the er within 12 hours of the onset, so we're very hopeful he'll make a full recovery, we just don't know when at this point.
these last few days have been really scary, but we've yet to receive bad news, so that's good news. what's made it worse is feeling so useless at the hospital and missing my girls. so i decided that tonight i will stay home with them and try to create some sense of normalcy for all of us while we wait for more results.
thank you all for your love and support.
