Now personally I fell asleep at around 8pm last night so I missed it all. But my husband is a huge nirvana fan and says paul mccartney and 'nirvana' got together and played one song he had never heard of before, which wasn't a nirvana song. Or if it was, it was written by the remaining two people in nirvana. According to the news it's a new song.

Wtf. Most overhyped "reunion" ever?

um, they didnt hype it at all, in fact, it was a total suprise because they kept saying "coming up next....Dave Grohl, Paul McCartney. We didnt know it was "Nirvana" until Paul announced it.

Likewise, Micheal Stipe doing Losing My Religion with the Coldplay guy was a really nice suprise.

Apparently Paul didn't know they were Nirvana until someone told him during their initial jam session. Yeah Paul, you're playing the part of Kurt

Stipe was a complete surprise to everyone including the organizers.

It is a song they wrote together during a jam session. They have apparently been jamming together for a few months.

They need to stop jamming, and practice.

Yes and no.
He was brought in as a full member of the band. There was only one song recorded after he was brought on and Kurt killed himself before Pat Smear got a chance to lay down his part. He was supposed to be the fourth member of Nirvana, but things ended a little abruptly. So yes, Pat was their "touring" guitarist, but only because he didn't have a chance to record with them.

He was a touring memebr of Nirvana.

So they played on SNL last night. Song sounded pretty good except for Paul screaming into the mic. Didnt really make sense to me at all.
It is nice to see David Grohl back where he belongs.

Kurt's looking down from heaven beaming. Anyone who knows Nirvana knows the insane Beatlemaniac Kurt was. The guys are doing this because they know Kurt would have loved it. Paul knows it and respects it too...the song has total Nirvana overtones...this is all being done with the utmost respect for Kurt in mind.

It's a trip to see Pat Smear from the Germs on stage with Sir Paul McCartney...
