What a great exhibit!
All sorts of cool stuff like old decorated mail order envelopes, handwritten lyrics and music, Bill Graham's Father Time robe, the Hammond that Keith and Brent played, Bobby's pink Strat, and of course Rosebud.
I was not prepared to be so emotionally moved at the sight of Jerry's guitar - I mean, come on.
It's just a guitar.
But it's not just a guitar.
I started thinking of all the shows I saw where that guitar was singing it's heart out and when I thought of how that guitar will never sing like that ever again, I got all choked up and geez.... it's been 17 years... I'm even getting a little misty eyed just typing this out now.
Must be going soft in my old age.
They also had some old hotline tapes.
I picked up the red phone and there was that familiar voice, rattling off the dates and the mail order rules.
"Thank You, and stay in touch".
I highly recommend getting to see this exhibit if you can before it's gone.

Glad you had fun. I went to the Hall of Fame on the one and only super long roadtrip I have done solo. Stopped on the way as I was going to Rothbury. I was quite proud of myself that I found it with no directions without getting lost. So much cool stuff in that building.
Yes there is - I could have spent another whole day in there.
And congratulations!

Spent a couple of days at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this past weekend, the highlight being the Grateful Dead exhibit that is closing at the end of next month.

I was there a long time ago. Very cool place.
I can understand you getting a little emotional about seeing the guitar. The wonderful music that came from Jerry and that guitar stirs something inside every Deadhead. I would have teared up a little myself. Glad you were able to see it.

No, it wasn't a vomitorium.
It was made of stainless steel and had freezing coils underneath so when they sprayed it down with seltzer it created a thin layer of frosty ice to keep your beers cold.
Here's a picture of LJ cooling his heels.
