I will be in Albany on the morning of January 9th to support a ban of fracking in NY.

Anything going on the night before?

There is usually an Americana Music Club on Tuesday nights at Valentine's. They haven't listed any acts for January/2013 yet though.

The 8th is also the anniversary of Elvis' birthday, so there will most likely be an Elvis birthday bash/tribute going on somewhere if you're into that.

You got it! I should be around, so at the very least, if there's nothing happening, you can come by for some refreshmentts.

Hey Dan,

Can you do me a favor? I dont really understand fracking and it's dangers to the people and planet. Can you write a brief explantion for me? Think of it as if you were writing to a 9th grader. Thanks a lot. I've been nicer to you this year, hope you can help me out.

I looked at this even though you're on the ignore list.
I would be happy to answer your question, but:
1. I fear that would turn it into a moveable thread
2. It's already been done. I'd suggest watching Gasland or The Sky is Pink, or better yet get yourself to a screening of Dear Gov. Cuomo

Feel free to contact me off board and I can point you to more

You're welcome.

There is also a movie called "Promised Land" that will be coming out January 4th. (Dec. 28th limited showings) with Matt Damon. The trailers look promising

I'm taking the bus (at least 4 coming from Ithaca!)

We'll probably have a few moments to grab a bite in the area.  We rally before the State of State which starts at 1:30, buses leave at 3.  But I'll be going to a few offices first.

Any pro tips on somewhere to grab something to go real close to the Capital/Egg/South Concourse?  I'm sure easy to find myself, but pro tips are pro tips!

There's a ton of places on N. Pearl St.

Walk down State St towards the river and go left on N. Pearl

Royal, I second the Gasland documentary recommendation.

Dan, I used to enjoy the atmosphere on Lark Street, which is walking distance up the hill from The Egg.

also very close the iron gate cafe 182 Washington Avenue  Albany, NY 12210 https://www.irongatecafe.com/index.php
go to the washington ave side of the cap. walk up the hill - is on the left... if you go there before 2 pm let me know and i'll meet ya (I work two buildings up!) the iron gate i suggest over other places because its fast but healthy... can sit down but can get to go and are quick! :)

if you have time to sit... http://www.centersquarepub.com/ 32 dove street.  go up washington or state... and is on the corner. not as quick as iron gate is but most aren't at lunch time here.
