IMO, 1973 was Grateful Dead at it's finest. The fall '73 Winter '74 had some of the greatest shows. This show features Keith really coming into his own. His playing, along with Jerry during the 2nd set is simply unreal.
The sound on this is pretty good, not great, but good. The China/Rider is a highlight, as is the 2nd set openers Row Jimmy and Jack Straw.
But when they break into Playin'>Uncle John's Band>Dew>Uncle John's Band>Playin' it just becomes unreal. 50 minutes of non stop heaven. The Eyes>Sugar Mags is just icing. Then the shows closes with a pretty good Casey.
Keith took a lot of crap when he first came into the band. He had big shoes to fill. By this time in late '73 he was on fire.
Give it a listen..
