A very good friend of mine took a lot of damage to his dry cleaning shop down in Long Beach due to Superstorm Sandy. I'm doing whatever I can to help the man get back on his feet. FEMA doesn't give helpt businesses and every dime matters right now since he's barely getting in any work right now. Part of what he lost was his lil mini kitchen area which contained a little microwave, a coffee maker, and a mini fridge.

I've got a coffee maker I'm going to give him and another buddy has a microwave for him. Before I go out and buy the man a new mini fridge I figure I'd put it out there and see if anyone had a small one at home they're not really using anymore. The more stuff we can get as hand me down that we don't have to buy means more money we can give 'em to spend in Home Depot on lumber and new walls.

So...If ya got one, lemme know and we'll figure out a way to get it from you to me.

Something on NPR today about low interest gov loans for victims of the storm, up to $200,000 for people and 2mil for a business. Granted he may not need a 2mil mini fridge but a loan to cover business overhead until the dust settles might help.

Eco, he's aware of those loans. Loan is not the same as the FEMA grants. Loans, even ones with low interest rates, need to get paid back.

He doesn't have a mini fridge, but he's a Long Beacher who can probably lend some knid of hand. I'm talking to him this weekend, so I'll see what he was thinking, and see what we can work out.
