the way i understand it, the long count pretty much uses a base 20 system.
get out the thinking caps and asprin.

The long count is represented as a five place notation system of ascending cycles - kins (days), winals (20-day months), tuns (360 days), k'atuns (20 tuns), and bak'tuns (20 k'atuns). It is important to note that the long count's version of a year, the tun, is only 360 days, not the solar count of 365. This means that the long count diverges from the Haab by five days every year, making it a completely unique and separate cycle.

according to that then the Mayans would have believed this current universe has only existed for approximately 5130+/- years... debunk'd?
Or...they're just Jews bad at math...aren't they at like 56 or 57 hundred and change?

Aside from another calender found in 97 i think and not highly publicized that goes past 2012...what if the calender they found that everyone has a hardon for was a comparable dollar store version and they're all laughing at you

i have tickets to see Mule 12/31, RMB in Jan & moe. + Kimock in Feb so i'm expecting the sun to rise on 12/22 or i'm going to be pissed.

Theres a small part if me that would like to witness pole-reversal or the eruption of Yellowstone Caldera or some kind of cataclysm...
ok I'll come clean. I only said "something"that "something" could be anything, such as feck posts in this thread
I'm sure something tragic will happen on that day too, something tragic happens every day... also something good... etc.
but yeah, something cataclysmic would be interesting... as long as it doesn't disrupt anything too negatively...

I'm thinking there will be at least one doomsday cult mass suicide... if not several... that being said beyond that I agree with peace frog's statement that something will happen... that something being defined as anything...

important exception was made for the second place value, which instead represented 18 × 20, or 360 days, the remaing 5 days is when they sacrifice people that ask why only 18 winals to a tun.

World ends on Dec 21st (supposedly)
If that doesn't happen, then I am to be sacrificed during the last 5 days of the year.

I am picturing the walk of shame up the Chichen Itza pyramid steps with thousands of people chanting in the huge echoing square.
i'd skip the 13.0.0.0.0 12:01 AM cool aid they may be handing out, and no bending over backwards over the stone alter unless you need some organs removed
