the way i understand it, the long count pretty much uses a base 20 system.

get out the thinking caps and asprin.

http://mayan-calenda..._longcount.html
The long count is represented as a five place notation system of ascending cycles - kins (days), winals (20-day months), tuns (360 days), k'atuns (20 tuns), and bak'tuns (20 k'atuns). It is important to note that the long count's version of a year, the tun, is only 360 days, not the solar count of 365. This means that the long count diverges from the Haab by five days every year, making it a completely unique and separate cycle.
Posted Image
The Five Long Count Positions
The largest of the long count's five cycles, the bak'tun, is a period equaling 400 tuns. Many people believe that the full cycle of the Long Count is complete when 13 bak'tuns have passed since the beginning of the creation of this current universe, identified as the 4th creation in the Maya "story of creation", the Popol Vuh

crazy russian's going crazy already

http://www.nytimes.c...-elsewhere.html

Inmates in a women’s prison near the Chinese border are said to have experienced a “collective mass psychosis” so intense that their wardens summoned a priest to calm them. In a factory town east of Moscow, panicked citizens stripped shelves of matches, kerosene, sugar and candles. A huge Mayan-style archway is being built — out of ice — on Karl Marx Street in Chelyabinsk in the south.

 ok I'll come clean. I only said "something"

that "something" could be anything, such as feck posts in this thread :)

I'm sure something tragic will happen on that day too, something tragic happens every day... also something good... etc.

but yeah, something cataclysmic would be interesting... as long as it doesn't disrupt anything too negatively...

important exception was made for the second place value, which instead represented 18 × 20, or 360 days, the remaing 5 days is when they sacrifice people that ask why only 18 winals to a tun.

http://calendars.wik...i/Maya_calendar

but then again it migh have something to do with lunar cycles (20 days) vs rotaion around the sun (365) or Pop.

Let's see if I got this right ....

World ends on Dec 21st (supposedly)

If that doesn't happen, then I am to be sacrificed during the last 5 days of the year.

Well, I guess I should just head to Cleveland
