I don't know if it works for all browsers or just for chrome but this is a 3-D interactive map of 100,000 stars in our celestial neighborhood, if you zoom in all the way it shows you our Sun and you can zoom all the way out to see the galactic disc of the Milky Way

If you click the play button in the upper left hand corner once it loads it will take you on a brief guided tour of the map... one still mind blowing fact pointed out at the end of the tour is that there are 400 to 600 billion stars just in our galaxy alone
