This is an incredible show, from a year that IMO was among the best.
They say you favor theyears that you first found GD. I was about 17 when I went to this show, it wasn't my first, and certainly wasn't my last, but it always remained a fave.

There's some good stuff in there. I like how Here Comes Sunshine goes completely off the rails and into a Dark Star/Other Ones type of space jam, then recovers with Bobby McGee. As soon as that song ends, Jerry tries to start China Doll but Bobby overrides him with WRS Prelude and Phil conjures up the long Eyes of the World before Jerry finally gets his ballad in.

The EYES in this show is great. HCSS too. Not a bad recording for 40 years ago.
Remember, this is just 2 weeks after Pigpen died. I was at the first show after his death (3/15/73) It was a good show, but not like this.
These were special times, and this two week period was off the hook for me.
I went to GD at Nassau on 3/15,3/16, then on 3/17 I went to see NRPS at Stony Brook, left that early to catch Pink Floyd at RCMH for a 1:00AM show (). I remember clearly Jerry and Bobby were sitting 2 rows behind me for Pink Floyd. Then off to Boston for 4/2. (don't know how I ever finished school that year)
