September 8th, 1983 - Red Rocks Amphitheater, Morrison, CO
Shakedown Street, Mama Tried, Big River, Ramble On Rose,
Hell in a Bucket, Brown Eyed Women, Looks Like Rain, Deal.
Scarlet Begonias, Fire on the Mountain, Estimated Prophet,
Terrapin Station, DRUMS, Throwin' Stones, Black Peter,
Around and Around, Good Lovin'. E: Baby Blue.
Cool thing about Dark Star is not only the music but the history lesson as well. For instance getting a chance to hear earlier, more raw versions of Throwin' Stones and Hell in a Bucket.
Also, 1983 Jerry's voice was already changing over to that real naisily sick sound. The Dark Star version has Jeff singing sweetly and strong, the way maybe it could have should have been.
Good show. The crowd seemed sleepy. Could have been the lack of booze. Could have been the cavity search getting in, and the troopers augmenting regular security. Serious lock down.
Sound was superb though.
Went out to the local tavern afterwards for one. Probably ended up staying there as long as I was at the concert.
Fun, fun, fun Tuesday night. Now elder pays

Yeah, that place was locked down inside and out. Between it being a midweek show, and the DEFCON 1 level of security, the atmosphere was a bit sterile, but the show was still quite entertaining. Glad I went. I too am a bit slow today..

Oh, forgot to mention, sterile except for after the show when the lots were full of ballons and fallng down teen wooks.
HAHAHA yeah, as I was driving away, I saw the balloons coming out... I actually considered pulling over to partake! LOL. I figured that scene would have been kebashed instantly though...that is if the security even had a clue what was in those balloons.

The $89 rate for the BW is pretty good. A cab shouldn't be that bad, and the hotel has a shuttle that would take you into Huntington.
I'll be staying in Smithtown, about 12 miles away.

There really isn't many hotels in Huntington area. There is the Whitman, on Jericho, and a bunch of hotels in Melville, but really nothing that I can think of near the station.

89 bucks IS a great price...nice catch!
waiting on a friend's wife to give him permission to go on 12/30...but he might actually be working the show (security) so I can not waste $$$ on a ticket again only not use it if he works
