[Baidarka]

After more than 31 months of waiting, we received our adoption referral today.

I can't share much, but there is a 4 month old little girl in Ethiopia who will soon be joining our family.

Much to do...and two trips to Africa before we bring her home...but we have a name and a face and she is ours!

Thug, her name is Meseret. She is a beautiful little girl, but we cannot share any pictures right now...she is still in custody of the Ethiopian government and they do no allow images to be posted.

We believe the "t" is hard. That is how our case manger pronounced it. It means "origin", "source" or "base" in Amharic.

Holy crap. It is slowly sinking in...that is MY baby in the pictures.

You know how some babies are ugly and you HAVE to say they are cute. Well ours is this beautiful little brown bean. I told one of my co-workers I have some anxiety. Ethiopian women are BEAUTIFUL. This kid will wear nothing but smocks until she is 25! I am going to have to get a collection of shotguns to display above our stove to ward off potential suitors.

I thought it would be tough raising a black male in America...

This may stress me more.

But bring it on!

Finally, a court date! We will meet Meseret on the 13th of April and accept her as ours on the 15th. We will then travel around Ethiopia for a few days before heading home...without her...to await or Embassy date when we will again return to Addis Ababa to bring our little girl home. Sorry is still can't share any pictures, but we received more last month and now that she is with our agency a bunch more in the past week. She is a little pudge, it looks like she has rubber bands around her wrists.
