Thanks all
I have only been here five days....seeing friends and family who have lived this for three weeks is heartbreaking. Some lost some, some lost all. Everyone is in the same boat.... One day my sister and I spent three hours strictly on 'hug patrol'.
Seeing all the help pouring in is heartwarming. My home town peeps are tough as they come. They are not giving up!
I go where I am needed and use my network to be as effective as I can. While this ole' body is bone tired today, there is much work ahead and I am inspired by so many volunteers who continue to show up and help. Tomorrow is a day of rest (ish) as I only have to take mom to chemo so I can sit and sit and sit some more
Much love to EVERYONE who is rebuilding after this disaster and to all who are helping!!!

Karen be cool for sure...
Any particular recommended group to donate to? St Francis??
For info regarding donations, you can go to http://rockawayhelp.com/ where you will find multiple links for different parts of the peninsula.
I recommend donating to http://graybeards.com/ These guys have been doing amazing things all over the peninsula for years. They also sponsor the Wounded Warrior project here every year. Right now, while they are digging out there own homes they still helping others. My brother in law is a member of this organization too.
Thanks!

Tabbooma that is great news. The construction phase is such a positive thing to look forward to! It's going to be tough going.... I was visiting a friend tonight and they had just found out what their FEMA amount was.... Their entire house has to be gutted, electrical, boiler, furnace, everything.... as they had 4.5 feet of sea water on the first floor. FEMA gave them 19K. OUCH. It's a long, long road ahead for NJ and NY residents. Hang tough folks!
