oh MAN
ok, the abridged version:
the phil show we saw was tues, so on tues am at 6 am, we took the bus to manhattan and raged a deli, then proceeded a planned & plotted beer crawl through manhattan - all on foot

after a quick dinner at a random but pretty yummy thai place, we proceeded to go to the roseland for the 5 pm doors
we grabbed a spot about 5 feet from the center rail and quickly made a bunch of new friends
we proceeded to rage that spot for the duration of the show
by then, we were wiped and when the awesome show let out at 11:30 (?) we went to a local 24 hour diner to kill some time before our 3:30 am bus back home to boston
after the diner, we wandered back to a bar where we were earlier and hung out there until they closed at 2 am
by then, i just couldnt walk anymore

and we went people watching in port authority station before heading to our gate to get in line
trust me, i am glossing over some good stories
like the guy in the bus station, asleep on his side with his arm down his pants, the birthday girl at the caboose bar and the amish couple behind us in line or the lady who left her hubby who was having surgery to go to msg and see madonna, never mind the 4853 stories from the rest of the day

anyhow...
so we get on the bus, which was the most horrifically uncomfortable bus i have ever been on

and find it filled to the last seat before 5 minutes

luckily, i passed out until we hit hartford station (one of 2 stops)
i woke up and kinda got my bearings and drank some water
suddenly i hear yelling and swearing (ironically, right next to the amish folks

)
its 2 african-american gentleman
one is seated and one is not
the older (standing) guy is yelling in a very, um, disrespectful way, at the younger guy
he threw in some racial slurs and more than one personal attack on the basest of levels
the younger guy held his patience for a bit and then exploded on him
it was just yelling for a bit then it got physical
i was expecting bullets
a couple of young dudes from the back go up the aisle and somehow get the 2 guys off the bus
then, there is a huge scuffle next to the bus and i can hear the yelling escalating to threats of murder "i know people, SON, and all i have to do is make a call and your ______ ass is in a BAG!" and stuff of this nature...i stand up to look and see the younger dude holding the older guy up in the air with his fist

i crouch back down and expect gunshots

a cop car pulled up just after the younger dude ran off...the older dude actually got back on the bus!!!! the entire busload of peolple pointed him out and assured the driver that he was the shittard who started the whole thing, so he was escorted off the but...not sure what happened to him after that except that there was a lady on the bus who had a court date that she was NOT gonna miss on account of these 2 chuckleheads

which she LOUDLY announced to all who were inside of hartford

anyway, so we leave hartford and are off to framingham then boston FINALLY
i manage to lull my dented and twisted body into a position i could sleep in and woke up in framingham
we left that station without incident - at first

the driver got lost and couldnt find the highway

so he overshoots it and decides that this steep burger king parking lot was a good place to try and bang a U turn in a greyhound bus

SCCRRAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPEEEEEEEE!!!!! and the bus grinds to a halt...you can feel it teetering in the air! it was not cool!

we all look at each other like "really?!?!"

all i can think of is the lady who got off in framingham who had a court date - i knew she would have burst a gasket

after 5 minutes of running around the bus, the driver herds us all off the bus and we get to hang out in the frigid air in a burger king lot while he looks at the front tires of the bus, hanging about 3 feet off the ground

a huge ass tow truck showed up and this lady hopped out and after a couple tries, finally got it up enough to drive off the hump he bottomed out the bus on
of course at this point we were blocking traffic and there were cop cars there and it was quite a scene

we were there for over an hour and lemme tell ya, there are a lot of pics & videos of this as everyone in the lot documented it fully
tony has pics!
anyway
we finally made it back to boston, exhausted and an hour and a half late

it was a really fun trip, although the level of adventure on the greyhound was perhaps a bit too much for my liking
