So looks like i will be getting a brand new i-phone.

Happy Birthday to me.

Right now i have the best flip phone offered.
I never really saw the need for an I-phone but since Cat's Droid decided to implode i can get one for cheap thru a work plan.

So.........what do i want for apps? (is that what you call them?)

I hear the camera and video is great so that will be cool.

Also what kind of case and or accesories will i need so i dont smash it?

get a screen protector and a decent, user friendly case. you will drop it. otter makes a pretty sturdy case, though some find it too bulky.

Another very neat ap is SHazam. It lets you find out what song is currently playing on any radio....I use it a lot if im listening to some college radio or a jazz show where they dont always ID the songs....just open up Shazam, it listens for 30 seconds, and will come back with the title/artist/album and a download link if its on iTunes. Really handy.

I think all those cases are snap on and was just told the slide on ones are more durable.

i just downloaded "drvg wars"...it has been updated from the game i used to play in math class on my graphing calculator, the drvgs have changed (Cialis, Ritalin, Vicodin, etc) but its still the same make-as-much-in-as-short-a-time timewaster that its always been. FUN

Shazam is cool, but I've switched to Sound Hound. I like the interface more, and it seems to be a bit more accurate. You can even sing to it and it will sometimes recognize the song. Real time lyrics are also sweet.

Spyglass - an amazing MilSpec heads-up compass. When you hold the phone vertically, it sights with the camera so you can take bearings and elevations. Horizontally it overlays on Google Earth. You can store waypoints; I've even used it to find the car in a big parking lot. Try the free version, but its worth the few bucks for the full one.

Barcode Scanner - There are lots of them. Find one you like. Handy for QR codes and looking up products by barcode.

SkySafari - Very cool star finder ap. You look at the sky through the phone camera and it shows all the stars, planets and constellations right where they are in the sky. Really neat.

WeatherBug - My go-to free weather ap.

Yelp - Indispensable for restaurant, hotel and business reviews. Super useful when traveling.

i know nothing of this i phone but i was looking into that or the new galaxy one when my contract is up in dec. oh and mostly to say hi to you cause i miss you. good luck with your new phone! and i like the covers you choose mostly the bear in wolf clothing tho the one on the bike with the derby is priceless too.

The iphone 5 doesn't have one yet... or at least they didn't last week.... but I agree my mophie has saved my ass numerous times.

As or apps there are so many I like, but it all depends on what and how you want to use your phone.
I love the weather Channel App, Yelp, Camera+, 7-11 locator, Netflix, Pandora, CNN and Politifact to check the bullshit most politicians spew!

I have more apps on my ipad but that is because I do more work on it.

But I would recommend turning on the find my iphone, you can program typing shortcuts, and has a some what equalizer on it for listening to music.
