In case we're not "friends" on Facebook, I kinda wanna let you know some cool fucking news I've got.

I've recorded a novella audiobook that's going to be sold on Audible.com, iTunes and Amazon.com!

My dream of being a narrator is actually coming to pass! I had found this website called ACX - Audiobook Creation Exchange - which is owned by Audible.com (who in turn is owned by Amazon.) It's a place where authors can find narrators for their books and narrators can audition for books they want to produce in audio at home. So, I put up a profile using samples of the stories I had recorded for Cast of Wonders and one that is forthcoming from Cast Macabre...An author actually contacted me with an offer! I just submitted the final production this morning and it was just accepted. She even wrote that she thought it was "AWESOME!"

Do you mind telling me what kind of pay ranges are typical for this sort of work? I'm curious. My father in law seems to think it would be the same pay as he'd get to record a 30-second commercial... I can't see how that would be the case!

I'll be getting royalties from any sale through (exclusively) Audible.com, Amazon.com and iTunes. but there are different rates of pay, depending on the project. Or, he could set an hourly wage as well.

I don't plan on leaving my day job for this any time soon

the thing is, and I can't say this anywhere else...but, the story isn't great. My reading of it is, of course but the story itself...yeah, not so much.

so I don't want anyone to buy it. please.

I now have 2 completed audiobooks for sale

 

The first one, I really dislike the story (as I've said) but the second, Sister Raven, I love!  It just went up for sale on Thursday and it sold 2 copies that day already!  The first one went up for sale on 11/29 and, it being a Christmas story, has sold 21 copies since.

I hear they are great for long car rides, but I never really take long car rides.... lol.
