Were you ID'd today when you went to vote? So far I've talked to nearly 30 people who voted and were not ID'd. Myself included. Just curious to meet someone that was, and where....

I think the only time you'll be asked for ID this election is if you were displaced by the hurricane and have to vote outside of your normal polling place.

I don't think I have been id'd out here before, just asked for street address. Then again, I know most of the people doing the check in so they usually check me off before I even say my street's name.

Connecticut has a voter ID requirement but it's not as strict as many... had to show photo ID but there's other ways to vote without it including by affidavit... this is the first major election I have participated in here. When I first voted in municipal elections last year after moving back here I was shocked that I was asked for ID. I didn't have to show ID for any election in Pennsylvania.

My town is growing and they have a lot of people they keep track of.

I'm always ID'd, despite the fact that I ususally know many of the poll workers.

to not be asked really bothered - anyone could have went in, said my name, and signed the sheet (my signature is on the sheet, but anyone can match a signature - and my signature wasn't even checked by the woman anyway!) i could have wrote mickey mouse next to the signature on the form and she'd have sent me on my merry way.

in NY:

Identification Required at Polling Places

Acceptable forms of identification include: A driver's license or department of motor vehicles non-driver photo ID card or other current and valid photo identification; A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows the name and address of the voter. If the voter is not able to show one of these items to the poll officials, then the voter can vote only by affidavit ballot unless a court order provides otherwise.

We're asked.

I just hand over my voter ID card, the look at it, I sign a sheet, they hand it back and tell me which line to get in

I completely disagree. Try to match mine. I'll give you $5 if you can do it convincingly enough to fool people. Unless you're an experienced forger, I suppose, but those are pretty rare.

I was ID'd and signed a form indicating my current address. I've never been asked before, but really I should have changed by address a long time ago.
