hurricane parties in Ocean City can be epic. i remember once, i had to leave my car 5 blocks away and walk through thigh-deep water just to get TO the party...then stayed for the duration. we partied for 2 days straight
My only hurricane party was an epic fail. 2004 Hurricane Charlie when I was living in Florida. Boarded up in the apartment of my best friend, his now wife and a group of ten others. Copious amounts of booze and blow and the thing was a total miss.

Charlie absolutely destroyed Port Charlotte, but 30 miles to the north where we were it was a mild thunderstorm. Didn't even lose power. We were all strung out and grinding teeth at 7 in the morning and pissed it missed us.
The same hurricane Charlie that seemed headed straight for Clearwater and my whole family was calling my grandparents who lived there begging them to drive to my folks place in Orlando, and the ever faithful missionary Mom Mom was all, "Oh we're fine, we're ready when the Lord feels it's our time, we know where we're going."

Who said I've never had a good time in Florida? I just described a situation where there was copious amounts of booze and if I recall three 8balls of cocaine. It was a plenty good time even if the hurricane was rude and traveled south of us.
So long as there were no ants brother.

A&P, no water, no batteries.
But Kings was in full supply, getting more.
I have no idea what that means, I just found it interesting.
I also booked a suite at the Embassy suites nearby (they had power last time while we did not) for 4 nights. Got nervous about the increasing size of this storm, went back this morning to book another 4 nights...prices went up $100 per night!
things are going to get interesting around here I'm afraid....

You know it's not going be good when the utility co sends you warning e-mails.
Ugh.
We got robo-called by our County Executive last night. Gov. Cuomo has already pre-declared a state of emergency for NY State so we'll be able to get FEMA help right away where its needed and LIPA is already apologizing.

That pic you posted doesn't have it touching CT.
I know. I'm not counting on any map at this time, too soon. Pretty crazy that we may get hit as hard as they're predicting with the present pattern. Better not screw with the hurricane party I've organized for my block! There's a lot of booze and steaks to consume!

"I am not evacuating, Paul. Period." - my gf
I got new extensions for my gutters, so I can run the water about 8 feet from the house. Had to go to 2 home depots. They are sold out in Fairfield, but the one in Parsippany had a few left. Also no D batteries anywhere and Target is out of bottled water. (but I got 3 cases). Charge your batteries today! Also bought 3 big bags of mulch that i can use as sand bags.
Everything is in place..just not sure about how much I can do about the leaves!
