Please have consideration for her family and friends and choose your words with them in mind.
I think it would be a step in the direction of clarity and fairness if you added a statement to the story that in no way are the police or your news agency implying that a sexual encounter was voluntary."

good point...and an angle I didnt even consider.

most people would never consider it until something like this impacts their own family/circle directly. recently, i lost two family members in a horrific murder, and i can tell you from experience that reading the sensationalized reports and speculation in the press in the days following their deaths, before the full and awful truth came out, made it even harder on my family than it already was.

not sure why i opened this thread in the first place because i don't come here for "tragic and sad", but what Diddy said resonates in me. maybe not the way he said it, but the sentiment i think was behind his posts. the media takes the absolute worst in human experience and exploits it for their own gain. staying on top of world issues is one thing...but focusing on macabre stories of human tragedy that don't impact you personally is depressing and, for the people it actually does effect, intrusive.

Special K i am sorry for your loss, if i read correctly and you had a personal tie to this girl.

confused... the OP's news links were for happenings in New Hampshire. Yours is VT.... is there a correlation? Should the authorities be notified?

or is this connection with your fax problem?

I find it both tragic and sad, also local to me.

my turn? I find it terribly sad that the police can categorically state that the missing girl was strangled. I find that to be sad and unprofessional to sad nadirs....

and tragic that there is no hope for any improvement on that issue. If they went with statistics, Lizzi would have been bludgeoned or suffered some other blunt force trauma....but no....somehow they surmise it was strangulation.. what a shame....sheesh,

a rope with dna or other micro evidence could easily lead to this conclusion.

Or a confession by one of the murderers.

From everything I understand from the local reporting plus some information that probably shouldn't have been shared with me from the local PD, the man currently charged with the crime confessed in full right away. The complications are that his girlfriend (Lizzie's co-worker at the local Target) lawyered up right away and denied involvement.

I hate to speculate on such horrible stories, but it pretty much sounds like a group sexual encounter gone horribly tragic. So, the case is currently stalled for what would appear to be two reasons. First, Lizzie has not been found. Second, one of the key witnesses and or suspects has denied involvement.
