Quick, everyone pile on to the Diddyman!

Not piling on. I've got nothing against him, just stating an opinion.

You defend your right to opine away on other people's posts (which I think is a right we all have), but it seems like your fur goes up the second someone else does the same to yours. If you're going to dish it out, you've got to be prepared to take it now & then. Fair play, you know?

Absolutely. My only issue here is people painting my posts as whiney. If that's what you got from them, I can't tell you you're wrong, because that's what you're getting. All I can do is tell you that my intention was not to whine, but rather to say "I don't think this post was in good taste." Now, I express myself with a certain ascerbic tone, to emphasize my point, but I'm really interested in which of my posts comes off as whiney or petulant.

Also, I believe I HAVE been 'taking it' in this thread, left and right, from both Spec. K and Hoagie. For K, I have some respect for her as a person, so I attempted to explain myself and give her a clearer understanding of where I was coming from.

For Hoagie, well, I mostly ignore Hoagie.

What's "trollish" about this thread?

You guys seem to jump into every thread she starts just to give her shit and accuse her of trolling.

Why not just use the ignore feature and be done with it once and for all?

People like to discuss different things and as long as they're not attacking anyone else I think they should be allowed to post whatever they want here. We've seen the results of people not wanting to read certain kinds of threads here and the bitching that went on until they got their way and now those types of threads aren't allowed in this forum.

What makes "your" thread acceptable and another person's thread unacceptable? Personally I could do without the poop threads, the save my little kitty and any damn phish thread. Hell, cancer, Alzheimers etc... are sad and tragic how about we remove all those threads so we don't have to see them? Where does the line get drawn?

I happen to personally know that poopie threads ain't allowed in family

DOVER, N.H. -- Authorities in Maine and Massachusetts are being asked to watch their shores for the body of a University of New Hampshire student believed to have been killed a week ago.
Nineteen-year-old Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott, of Westborough, Mass., vanished Oct. 9 after attending an evening class in Durham. Seth Mazzaglia, 29, was charged Saturday with second-degree murder and is accused of strangling or suffocating her in his apartment that night. Her body hasn't been found, but authorities have been searching the waters around Peirce Island in nearby Portsmouth.

I've seen helicopters from my work searching for Lizzie. Pretty eerie. Hope her body is recovered, so her family has closure. Unfortunately, bodies are often not recovered in that river. It has the 2nd strongest current of any river in North America.

Well, we have a fair amount of suicides from the 95 bridge over it as well as people drowning from boating accidents. The local news brings up the stat almost every time when people wonder why bodies sometimes aren't recovered.

my turn? I find it terribly sad that the police can categorically state that the missing girl was strangled. I find that to be sad and unprofessional to sad nadirs....

and tragic that there is no hope for any improvement on that issue. If they went with statistics, Lizzi would have been bludgeoned or suffered some other blunt force trauma....but no....somehow they surmise it was strangulation.. what a shame....sheesh,

my theory (based on info released thus far) is that unfortunately, Lizzie got involved in some kind of S&M sex acts and it went very wrong. I don't think the guy's intention was to kill her. But he did and then he did nothing about it but dump her body.

solid comment from the above link:

"

With regard to the Lizzi Marriott story, the use of the phrase “sexual encounter” should be considered carefully. A sexual encounter sounds voluntary. You have no way of knowing whether any alleged sexual encounter was voluntary or involuntary. The only person or persons who could make such a claim is/are involved in Lizzi’s murder. Lizzi is not here to defend herself.
Please have consideration for her family and friends and choose your words with them in mind.
I think it would be a step in the direction of clarity and fairness if you added a statement to the story that in no way are the police or your news agency implying that a sexual encounter was voluntary."

good point...and an angle I didnt even consider.

well, I did read somewhere that there was evidence taken from her computer and phone records that link her directly to Mazzaglia and consentual encounters.
