Felix tries to parachute from the lofty height of 120,000 feet. Besides being the highest jump ever attempted, he may be the first human to ever break the sound barrier without a plane or rocket surrounding him.

Discovery channel is covering this live now on tv.

It is also here http://www.redbullstratos.com/

also here

Go dude go!!

I'm not sure how he isnt going to black out or throw up and aspirate and die that way.

Either way hope he dosnt break the super sonic splat barrier.

I don't think it was done for an adrenaline rush, I think it was done to say it can be done... and what an incredible feat!

He was trying to beat the world record but i think he pulled his shoot early.
It was also done for medical and scientific research.
He had all kinds of sensors and stuff gathering data.

Check out the flub on his sponsers facebook page.
Someone is going to be in trouble over that one.

he did beat the world record for altitude and I think also airspeed without a vehicle, I think he was 11 seconds shy of the world record for longest freefall, he definitely opened the parachute a little early

They should have given him somekind of countdown or command to pull.

The guy on the mike was a tool.

Couldnt get the windspeed and direction down.
After falling from space and tumbling at high speed like that i am sure this dude had to be disoriented enough and to be so close to the ground and have some dumbass feeding you wrong info is pretty weak.

I DVR'd the last hour from The Discovery Channel.... Simply amazing to watch... 4 mins 20 seconds freefall going 700 mph !! Must have seemed like an eternity !! I got real worried when he started doing the flips... But he pulled out of it !! Simply incredible to watch !
