Have you ever high-fived someone at a bisco show when they just pulled off a sick jam? Same thing.

No! when I clap my hands and stomp my feet and point at the TV I'm actually participating and making things happen in the game :rolling:

My dad told me not to yell RETRAHHH! at the uconn game for first downs because I might offend the retarded guy or his family...I don't know why that would but now I can't do that at games

except for the drugs. . me too. pretty much.

ok, if I had a kid I wouldn't want him or her doing drugs in the woods either. I was being hyperbolic as usual. I was making the comparison in an ironic way because most people think of sports as healthy and drugs as brain damaging. However, I really do think that football and boxing injuries... maybe even hockey... could be a pretty big health hazard.

If and when I do have a kid, I will try to discourage them from violent and dangerous sports

I'm sure there are plenty of safe sports, though... I don't know let me think of some... hmmm.... croquet seems harmless but maybe you could stub a toe. golf can really get you into a lot of trouble with your wife.

hmmmm, considering booting jcs from my sig for that one

i like organized sports cuz they are fun to watch
what the eff is wrong with that?! :dunno:

besides, in boston sports is practically on the par with religion in being something that people feel VERY strongly about, man or woman!

also, imho, women who refuse to indulge in anything sports-related with their menfolk are missing the bus big time
its a great opportunity to have fun, eat and drink well and just bond more, in general!
besides, you may end up having fun and enjoying the game, too

Is it really so different than going to a concert & watching millionaires jump around on a stage? Or going to the movies and watching other millionaires pretend to be people that they aren't?

No, it isn't.

it's different. most people don't go to concerts, ballet, opera, movies, a couple/several times a week. And concerts, ballet, opera are all live events.

yes, growing up in Boston I know what Boston sports fans are like...part of the mystery to me...it's kind of always the same thing year after year....

well, I certainly don't refuse to indulge in anything sports related with my menfolk ;)
most of the time I choose not to particpate and do my own thing
the sitting on couch in front of the TV eating/drinking does not appeal to me at all
I'd go to a live Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox game - Patriots, no. Football fans I find too obnoxious, which I don't get.
I occassionally go to the bar to watch the "big game" if that's what everyone is doing...but I usually people watch

Right. Because I'm sure no one here has ever gone to more than one concert in a week. Or watched a stream of a show on TV/computer.

Sports were a huge part of my life from my childhood through college (played basketball) and beyond. It's what we did as kids in the backyard, and I know for a fact that it's what has kept me exercising daily to this day. I enjoy(ed) participating, and still enjoy watching it played at a high level. I would suspect that those that don't understand, never played team sports. To me, it's a no-brainer.

If (jnsert my favorite band) played a new/live show each or multiple times a week (or better yet, meet up with another band from another city and jam) and televised it. I would be watching whenever possible.

Yes, I understand sports are live events....most people watch sports on TV and most people go to the actual live event when it's opera, ballet, a concert. ;) Get it ?

I would bet that when Phish does a Live Broadcast of one of their shows, that many, many more people are at home watching it rather than at the venue.
Your example doesn't hold water, take ballet for instance, in order for you to see the dancers who are at the TOP of the ability, you will NEED to go to a venue to watch because they simply do not offer live ballet with industry leading dancers in any other fashion.

Me personally, I could take or leave sports, I have fun when I play and I play top have fun, winning is nice, but my main objective when playing is to have fun. I don't really watch others play on the TV.

You're not a sports fan. That's ok. You don't understand why people watch it or cheer for certain teams. That's ok.

Nobody here needs to justify your inability to "understand" why people like sports or cheer for certain teams.

You don't want to post a pic of yourself or meet anyone from here in real life. Nobody here understands that. It's just who you are and you don't have to justify it to anyone.

Pretty clear no?

Most people do not go to sporting events a couple of times a week. It is a very small part of the population that goes to games numerous times a week.

Why do you care so much about what other people do with their spare time?

Why do you care that guys like sports? They like it, no asks you why you like the things you like. I am sure you do somethings that I could ask the same things of.

It is just a personal preference.

I dont see anyone getting their panties in a bunch over explaining why they like sports. It is kind of obvious why so many people like it, that it hardly merits a real discussion.

Exactly.

Get your panties out of a bunch and smarten up and accept people for who they are.

We like sports.

Lots of women like Project Runway. I accept woman like fashion, I do not ask blanket statements where you can not figure something out that is friggin obvious.

I guess where you think I am getting my panties in a bunch is that there are quite a few answers that spell it out for you with A B and C.

Then I think SunshineDrummer summed it up simply. We enjoy it, that is all.

Now it just seems you do not like the answers and want something more than we are giving you. Oh well.

I posted something yesterday. Left the thread and saw you still posting questions? Trying to figure out other aspects of this phenomenon.

Above was your last post before I posted today. To me that says you still do not get it, that you were still prying for answers. Looking for us to "get it?"

So I put it as bluntly as possible. If you think that is panties in a bunch, that is fine.

But then to take a shot at some mentality, in a veiled shot at me. Again that is fine.

Now I finally understand why people block you. I will not block you, but I understand why someone would.

Good luck with your mentality.
