We are hosting our first Thanksgiving this year, so this weekend we're doing a practice round with friends... gives us the opportunity to try out a few recipes and see how the turkey roasting experience goes...

The other day I went thru 4 of my Food Network Magazines for recipe ideas....... then last night I looked up my favorites online & pinned to my board on Pinterest! Love love love it.

practice round 1 - we are using Alton Brown's roast turkey recipe.. the brine smells SOOOO GOOD... can't wait to see how it turns out!!

Kitty made a turkey a couple of weeks ago that was amazing!
She took all the skin off, rubbed it with spices and roasted it in the convection oven. It was super, duper delicious because the spices really got into the turkey

Yea , I found it strange that most of the recipes tell you to rinse and/or dry the turkey after brining/before roasting. Don't u want those flavors to stay packed on???

How about this recipe served from a pumpkin punch bowl:

• 1 1/2 parts Grey Goose La Poire Vodka
  
• 1/2 part Allspice Dram
  
• 1/2 part Licor 43
  
• 3/4 part simple syrup
  
• 1 heaping teaspoon pumpkin butter
  
• 3/4 part of lemon juice
  
• cinnamon sugar for rimming
  
• apple chip for garnish

She cooked it with the skin off! I never had a turkey made that way before...

Two thumbs up for the Alton Brown recipe... turkey was sooo moist & flavorful! Friendsgiving was a HUGE success, and not too much work since everyone brought a dish!

Testing out another recipe tomorrow!
