I think Fishman's drums were set up in the middle of the stage still in 1997.

Thats the picture from the Cover of the CD so I doubt Phish got it wrong but I guess anything is possible...

It had to be 95 - 96 or earlier.

I was looking at Youtube and 1996 Phish shows still have fish on the right side of the stage, where he is now a days.

No, they were always in a straight line, and then they moved him to the center......and then at some point (3.0?) he moved back.

They changed it up often then.

See image above is from 12/6/97 (I went to 12/3/97 in Philly).

This is 4/2/98 island tour, notice fish on the right side of the stage.

Yeah, they were in a straight line, until summer tour '99.

Yeah - they were always in a straight line from left to right and then they switched to Fish in the middle and then reverted back

I'm pretty sure it originally derived from the thin stage at Nectars - there was no other way to setup/

Phish's first show with FIshman in the middle was 6/30/1999 and yes I was at that show.
