google maps has an "avoid highways" option
and then you could use their "search nearby option"
that is what i would do...
if i were you, i would hug the lake shore as long as possible
maybe stop and check out the dunes along the lake in northern indiana
a road trip sounds fun

Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland currently has a special Grateful Dead exhibit which runs through the end of this year.
RR Hall of Fame is AWESOME! And, Cleveland ROCKS! Go have a beer on the dock side while you're there. Great restaurants and a very fun place to people watch. I can get you specifics if you want, may take a day or two.

Here ya go Kashmir!!! Response from Gregg...
Hi!!!
Not sure what they may be into, but there are a lot of cool things there, including the R&R H of Fame, & the Rats!! There's a House of Blues with some great acts usually, the area by the water is actually called the "Water Front," I think. There are some nice river boat cruises, the Hard Rock Cafe there is pretty cool too, as its a Huge Guitar overlooking the river. There are lots of Wine Bars with great food, Wine (of course!) & Beer. There are a couple of Breweries that are pretty good as well. There's the Cleveland Museum of Art & the Museum of Contemporary Art. The Cleveland Playhouse. There's even a "Bar Louie" Bar!! Blue Point Grille is an awesome restaurant, but is pricey! Divine Wine Bar is a really cool place... (right near Cleveland Chophouse & Brewery) one room off to the side has a huge fire place, & large comfy furniture... great wines, beers, & cocktails, as well as great apps! There's a really cool Cajun place, but i can't find it online, & i don't recall the name. Its not far from the Hard Rock, maybe a few blocks. I haven't been to Cleveland in a couple years though. I hear "Fat Cats" is a pretty cool place to eat, as well. Have 'em look online too, as I may have forgotten some cool things!!
Bye for now...

Disregard the "rats" thing. One of my favorite things to do while visiting when G went for classes was to bring the fancy doggie bags to the park and feed the rats. Yes, I already know I'm different.
