Healing vibes are needed for my 4-runner please. She took another one for the team. 3rd accident with family in tow, and once again I was grateful we were in the bigger vehicle.

Long story short, I was a block from home after picking the kids up from school Thursday night, stopped making a left IN FRONT OF MY AUTOBODY, when a woman stops to let me go. Of course someone else came cruising down and passed her on the right...SMASH into the front right corner of the 4-runner. Everyone was ok. The kids I have to say were not fazed after going through this just 2 winters ago. May have bent the wheel. His car was pretty mushed. Airbag deployed.

I just backed her right into Jimmy's (the autobody) parking lot. Now she sits awaiting estimates and insurance and all that.

But Jimmy will rebuild her.

She's been through it before, taking shots for the family, keeping us safe. Get better quick girl

i saw a segment on a news show about that exact situation being used as an insurance scam

While in an Ambulance Driver's Safety class several years back, we were told of a story of an ambulance driver who was successfully sued for something kind of similar. The ambulance driver saw a person trying to cross the street. They stopped in the middle of the block, and waved the pedestrian in front of the ambulance. While the pedestrian crossed the street..a passing car took out the pedestrian... The lawsuit worked because the Ambulance driver had taken on the role of a traffic officer, for which she was not trained for, nor did she have a duty to act as. By not knowing what she was doing, she put the pedestrian in harms way. Didn't matter if the Ambulance driver was trying to help....what mattered was a pedestrian got killed.

Sounds like your accident has similar tones to it.

Bought her new in 1999, no accidents except for my own bumping off of things kind of stuff. The last 4 years she's been rear ended, hit in the front left, hit in the front right. 180,000 miles, she's like an old prizefighter now taking them on the chin, getting back up.

I've already decided we keep going this way until she can't anymore.
Then I buy another new 4-runner just like her.

I did the same with my last Explorer XLT....the new Explorer XLT isn't 'quite' as wonderful, but still, that familiarity and love of a vehicle is there

I've had nothing but great luck with Toyota.

Since my first car, a 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual corolla.
I soon upgraded to the sportier cellica, which I drove for 12 years, 200k and across the country (sold her to a deadhead out there when I moved back east).

Back here in north Jersey we needed 4 wheel capability, and I knew the 4-runner was it.
I've loved every mile with her.

Perfect size for a SUV for me, not too big, still tough enough for most off road stuff I would do. Makes a great place to sleep.

I went to check on her progress today to find out the estimator might "total" her

Yeah, I don't know.
Its been 3 beatings now in 5 years, suspension this time too. We'll see. I may take it as a sign (says the non religous guy)

No, do not look at those. 4 Runners may not be perfect, but they beat any GM SUV's any day.
I love my 02 4 Runner. 120k and a few problems, but still going strong.

Tom, I've been buying Toyotas and Hondas exclusively for the past few years. I buy used and get crazy deals. We have a Sequoia...and while it kicks ass in the Colorado winter...it's almost TOO big when it comes to parking, etc.

I have test driven the sequoia, love it, but its too big for me.
the 4 runner was always the perfect fit. tough enough for what I do, but I could drive it around town or the city and parallel it anywhere.

right now I'm debating spending the $36k for a new 2012 vs. 2011 29,000 miles, $29k.
they don't depraciate as much so I'm leaning new but I don't know....

I never buy a warranty...you know how it goes...take care of her and she'll do the same.

One of the best things I did was get financing pre-approved at my credit union.

One good thing is I get a check for the truck since its totaled, plus I sold it tonight to the owner of the autobody
makes the pain of buying a new that much less

I'll be happy to say that I follow pretty much everything suggested. i didn't know it, but I guess I know what I'm doing.

but I make buting things of this magnitude a job. I research, and test drive, and interview.

by the time I'm ready to buy I pretty much know exactky what I want and how much I expect to pay
