i ended up doing some yard work on saturday mornings this summer but i'm back to yoga twice a week again, along with a zumba class, and 20/20/20 class and a new one called 'on the ball' that is all about pilates balls. i don't know where she comes up with some of the stuff we do with those balls.  :)    i do that, then yoga, on saturdays, and i really like it.

i've never done a heated class... i like doing 20-30 mins of cardio first then i'm warm enough for yoga. or just a warm room is fine by me...

oooh, it's worth the try, Sums. Went with my g.friend last week - it was her first time. She said she wasn't sure if she liked it but said "something happened in there." She went to another class the other night and now she's hooked. The heat just seems to open everything up.

I've been to yoga every day - feeling really good about it  absolutely hooked on yin yoga.

i bought myself the manduka version about a year ago. it's nice to have an extra thick, even if it doesn't fit into my yoga mat bag :)

so true! I was so tempted to skip this morning but I'm so glad that I went.

My daughter is committed to 30 days of yoga - two weeks in and she's met the challenge thus far.

an aside: I'm guessing you've done acupuncture, Sums. And, Nancy, you've posted about having gone. I have gone 4 times and I find it very painful. I've been reading about it on line and what I'm reading says it shouldn't be painful.  I've tried it with 2 different women and yikes! in many places I find it almost intolerable (outside of my feet, outside of my hands...). The acupuncturists say that I have a lot of trapped energy being triggered. I'm sure that's true (I hold a lot, I have lots of muscle knots in my back--I think I'm tense most of the time without even noticing) anyway, would this type of reaction make sense to you?  I also get kinda numb and cold in the areas where the needles are and I get a strong sense of wanting them out of me. I won't go anymore because it hurts too much and I can't relax. Is this all the more reason to go? Thoughts?

i have had some extremely "painful" needles but, of course, they are on points that really have stuck energy. the "pain" is more like electric shocks at the insertion areas. i can relax into them though but i have had a ton of really painful deep tissue massage done so i realize that relaxing into (constructive) pain helps to release it.

if you have a lot of knots in your back i would suggest regular deep tissue massage. like at least once a month (i go once a month just for maintenance now). maybe after you get rid of some of those blockages the acupuncture won't be as intense......??

Thanks, Sums. It's helpful to know that someone else has found the needles "painful." It does feel like an electric shock!

Maybe I'll keep going. It's community acupuncture so it's only $25 bucks.

I have gone to 8 weekly (30 minute) massages, and had the therapist target my back/neck. After 8 weeks (at $40 a pop, plus tip), it's just gotten too cost prohibitive. I was also seeing a craniosacral therapist every week, and a few visits to the chiro, and i'm regularly doing yoga. Nothing seems to have changed. Tim can feel the knots in my shoulders/back and my neck is locked up most mornings (difficult and painful to move--range of motion limited and lots of snapping/creeking noises in there that are freaking me out). Actually considering cortisone shots at this point - I have an appt with a pain specialist on Monday to discuss. Do I want them? No, but I feel like I've exhausted alternatives.  I suppose I should give PT a try, just kind of getting frustrated with exploring all of these modalities (with out of pocket costs) with little success.
